Pears out new guy in

looks like he has taken the blame for forest and maybe a few latter goals he should have saved..... must say he has been 7/10 for most games , seems a tad harsh but lets see ... maybe a more dominent and physical keeper is needed to see us through the last games

Think Pears dropped himself with that howler against Forest

I think it might the first goal against Forest that has informed Woodgate's thinking. Maybe he thinks Pears should have been able to get to that, a bit like the goal against Wigan. Personally I think it was a well-hit shot that was moving quickly.

I agree, the issue really was how much time he had to chose where to put the ball, no pressure was out on him

Although he had little to do, when he was called upon he looked assured. Good distribution with both feet especially one ball through the middle in the first half straight into Tav’s stride going forward.

Whilst I know little about the new guy, it sounded like he had a very decent debut. Maddo said his kicking was very good. The one other thing he brings is some much needed height and reach, to help out the defence too.

Pears has made some great stops in some games but is vulnerable as he is not the tallest. He now has real competition, so he will hopefully battle to get the gloves back and he has the added benefit of a goalkeeping coach in the family. All in all the competition he has now is good for both keepers and for Boro as a team.

Agree he looks the part. Tall, strong and can kick strongly. Was noticeably ordering the defence about too.
