Pears off to Blackburn?

I have no strong opinion, he's a bit meh, good shot stopper but young and may develop. He's a little below what I'd want from a No.1 pushing for the play-offs.

Hes not quite tall enough to be a modern elite keeper, he seems to be very Danny Coyne like, good shot stopper but lacking the physicality required to be at the better end of the league.

For someone whose first game was in 1987, there is something reassuring and sentimental about seeing a Pears on the team sheet. However, I agree he lacks the presence, physicality and authority to truly convince as a number one in a team with aspirations for the top six.

Some play until almost 40 now Alan, I think they should show some promise at Pears age, which I think he has. A time with Mogga wont do him any harm if he gets chance, and hopefully they will both end up back here when Warnock is done.

He's not that short. Same height as the world's most expensive keeper (even if he is rubbish) and only a couple of cm shorter than Randolph. Shouldn't necessarily be a barrier for him if the rest of his game develops.

I agree, looks like he could do with filling out a bit though.

I thought he looked the business when he stepped in in November up until a month or so before lockdown when he seemed to let some iffy goals in, not much to choose between the two of them really and a better long term option is needed I think. I'm hoping we didnt pay £1M for the other lad as that was the rumour at the time of signing!

22 is really young for a keeper to be playing championship football.
Pears shows great potential and should NOT be sold, loaned out yes, thats just what he needs.
A season or two in league 1 or 2 would do him the world of good.
I think he is a bigger prospect than Spence or Coulson.
Keepers always take longer to come through.
I think Warnock will want a new keeper with Stojanovic as number 2

Pears is the better keeper of the two and at 22 has many years ahead of him. He has shown some potential behind a dodgy defence. Selling him would be a mistake.
A loan move with more game time would benefit him.
It's clear NW is looking for a new number 1

He's good enough to have kept as a No2 and plenty of time to challange a No1 and get better. I'm not sure why we signed Stojanovic as skint and not much of an upgrade (if any).

I think from the very early days that Warnock didn't fancy either. I don't know how much truth is in the Pears rumour but we must have a new one lined up.

I doubt it will be much of a fee as only a year left on contract. Do you think we would have the intelligence to put in a sell on clause as 22 and from our academy? He would only need one or two good seasons and could go for 10mil+ as young and English.

Not overly fussed on him leaving in the short term, he's been okay at best, but I agree it would be better to extend his contract and try and get him a starting position on loan at a League One club.
