Payero

I don’t see how we can pass judgement on any player who has barely raised a sweat for the club.

He has shown some parts of his game which you could argue have been in line with his pre-signing scouting reports.

I’m not too sure how much we paid for him but much like any player who comes from South America there’s a lot of expectations, and so far it’s fair to say he’s not fulfilled any of those expectations.

Personally, I’d give him a full preseason and see if he can breakout and show us his potential otherwise he could be on the next plane to either Spain, Italy or even back home.

Really? Get a grip, he’s not played! 🤦🤣

On paper he was a key part for Warnock's best period as manager last season. Started 4 matches in a row, won 3 with an assist and a goal. In practice this was against 3 rock bottom sides in really poor form at the time.
On paper, according to his scouting reports, he's a good fit for a RCM under Wilder because he's a hard pressing attacking midfielder with a good range of passing. He's also a likable player; he plays with his heart on his sleeve. I think there's a chance he may come good this season but Wilder is a very pragmatic manager and will prioritise guaranteed performance that he can rely on over the possibly greater potential Payero represents.

I’ve seen McGree look really poor on a few occasions now. At Preston he was diabolical. Similar in at least one at The Riverside.
I want him to be what we thought.
I think Payero has much more quality.
Thought McGree started off quite well, receiving the ball on the half turn, looking to get forward and technically neat, but he had a couple of shockers toward the end of the season...mind, he wasn't on his own!

Wonder how his English is coming on. Hopefully pretty well because I think that'll have a big impact on how quickly he can integrate and adapt to team instructions etc.

He's been here long enough and had plenty of time on his hands. I'm sure Leo will have been helping him out too.
