According to reports this morning, Neil confirmed that Martin Payero has passed his Boro medical, so it looks a goer dependent on financial loose ends.
I hope your scepticism and patience is rewarded, but I do take your valid point of view!Having had our players hijacked by them being told that Newcastle is closer to London than Middlesbrough , and having Man Utd intercepting someone waiting for a plane to Teesside, I will believe when I see the player actually playing for Boro.
International medicals are often done remotely, if it's a late signingSo where was the medical conducted? Do we send a team out to South America? Or Japan? It worries me that he hasn't actually come and visited Middlesbrough yet!? We tend to have a history with South Americans who haven't particularly settled.
You started a thread about Fisher's injury when Block21 had already put one up. Just sayingWe already know this news. Nothing against you but there is already a post on him on here..

I know that's the perception (re: them settling) but not sure that's true. We've had a lot over the years and I'd say the vast majority have settled in very well (Juninho, Ricard, Doriva, Arca, Moreno, Stuani etc).
Where we've had problems they seem to have been more personality based than anything to do with "settling in" (Emerson, Ramirez). Or they just weren't very good (Alves).
Probably had more problems with southerners not settling in than we've had with South Americans!
Think it was mentioned up to 3 coming overHopefully he won't be the only South American arrival and they can help each other settle in
Fair point and that is likely true. But I think in any walk of life, if someone was moving to a new area/town/country, where they are going to spend the next few years you would want to visit to get a feel for the place and check you and your family will likely settle. If I was moving to South America my first visit wouldn't be the time I was signing the contract. It's not like footballers are short of cash to make the trip. Or do they just listen to their agent?I know that's the perception (re: them settling) but not sure that's true. He's proabbly just aware it's a massive opportunity to get established in Europe and knows he'll be looked after. He's heading to western Europe, which is a bit different to someone from the UK going to South America, which has massive safety concerns associated in certain areasFair point and that is likely true.
