Paul Weller latest album: "On Sunset" -

Was supposed to see him play at Newcastle City Hall in November but it's been put back until July 2021!

Came up in my Spotify recommendations this week so I’ll give it a listen, never been into him as a solo artist though.

I've never listened to Weller solo, the bits I'd heard never really blew my hair back. I was always partially into the Jam and just bought and listened through the Direction Reaction Creation box set (which is superb) and noticed On Sunset had been released so gave it a go on Spotify. Very pleasantly surprised by how good it is.

Only listened to On Sunset once when it got delivered yesterday, but liking what I've heard so far.

However to start with Weller's solo stuff then the standout album is actually the first, his self titled debut. Really stands the test of time, and one I constantly go back to much more than some of the more critically acclaimed ones like Heavy Soul & Stanley Road.

I'll check that one out next (y)

A man responsible for some of the greatest song/albums/live performances ever but sadly not as a solo artist. Has spent the last 20 years up his own **** trying to be relevant to the detriment of his songwriting.

Some good songs but not released a decent album since 2000 - that said I'll still give this a listen and hope its good. One thing for sure it cant be worse than the dross that was True Meanings.
