Patrick Bamford

We have just got to accept that a was a complete rollocks selling him so cheaply, and to Leeds of all clubs. 🤕

Leeds have scored the most goals in the first 6 games for a newly promoted team since 1992. We know what happened to that side, and how good the lads knocking the goals in were.

It must be really embarrassing for Pulis, Monk and Dyche watching Bamford show up how poor their judgement is.

Bamford and Traore in the same side. Some people are never happy.

They were the key reason why we made the play-offs in the end. Ridiculous to think Monk wasn't even playing them.

If he'd have just made Bamford his no 9 right at the start and believed in Traore there's every chance we would have 'smashed the league'. Instead he wasted ÂŁ31m on 3 strikers which we didn't need.

The money we've squandered on strikers and that conman goes and flogs off the only decent one (which was blindingly obvious to anyone who believes football should be primarily played on grass, not in the air) because he has the nerve to suggest he should be playing up front instead of the human/donkey hybrid Gestede. To Leeds of all clubs too.

Its ridiculous as well cause Bamfords better in the air than Gestede anyway

OK Gaz, name me a better Boro one since 2008?
It's not close.
(As for Maccarrone, the most he scored in any league season was 9).
Bamford has 6 already.

Thankfully most Boro fans appreciate how very very good Patrick was and is and wish him well.
Most have already realised that pulis poured petrol on the bonfire monk built.

Negredo is clearly the best striker we’ve had at the club since being relegated

stuani was a better striker too

Ref too much interference on transfer dealing at MFC - it was going on before Monk's time.

Southgate said he didn't really want Alves and did not want to sell Luke Young.

I got the impression deep down AK didn't really want Rhodes and would have kept Kike and spent the difference on additional players. This could have added to tensions and the March 2016 AK walkout.

I want proper team work on transfers with managers/scouts/owner working together on agreed targets.

Bamford wrote in an article last week that he struggled at some clubs because he thought the managers at those clubs thought because he was middle class everything had been put on a plate for him in life and thus they didn't beleive in him. He said he had no problems with foreign managers, they didn't seem to be affected by the English class system, so I think we can take AK out of the criticism, but it does leave a potential question mark over TP's and GM's judgements of him. Why sign 3 strikers when we already had 2. Surely 4 is enough?

I remember when he had to be stretchered off during the home game against Bristol City. When Pulis was asked about if after the game he said 'me and the lads have been giving him stick in the dressing room for being soft'. I bet he wouldn't have said that if it had have been Hugill who'd been stretchered off. It would have been 'the boy's fine, he's as tough as they come so we're not too concerned'.

I bet Bamford got a lot of that, especially whilst Pulis was in charge.

Its a shame how many good strikers we've wasted because the manager/head coach wouldn't just play them as a bloody striker. Stuani, Bamford, Rhodes, Maccarone to some extent, Fletcher last season out wide.

Garry Monk. What an absolute pudding. I don't think any single individual has set the club so far back. Took the achievements of the previous 4 years and ***ed them all up the wall. If we had appointed Pearson we would be playing in the premier league today with bamford and Traore in the team. Despise the bloke.

Inferiority complex that, criticising someone who had a good education, who is bright and articulate, musical, well travelled. We should aspire to that surely. Instead of listening to players and their 'at the end of the day, the gaffer said..' baloney I used to like to listen to Bamford and his interesting take on the game.

I think a big reason for that is the way football's gone. Not many teams' set up with two strikers these days. Imagine if we'd have had Hasselbaink and Viduka here when Karanka was in charge, one of them would probably have been asked to play wide right or would have not even started.

Monk was more or less handed it on a plate looking back. What was key to our success in the Championship under Karanka was having that solid spine......Ayala/Gibson.....Clayton/Leadbitter. In Ayala and Gibson we had arguably the best CB pairing in the division, and in Clayton and Leadbitter we had arguably the best midfield pairing in the division. All Monk had to do was stick with that spine and build his team around it. He already had the makings of a great side if he'd have gone with Friend at left-back, Traore wide right and Bamford up front, then he just needed to spend the money on a GK, RB, no10 and maybe another winger.

Instead, he completely dismantled the team which had previously taken us up, and wasted the majority of the transfer budget on 3 strikers when we already had Bamford.

I think the club was desperate to save money and that was part of Pulis' brief.

Unfortunately that usually translates to the best players leaving, whilst the club are left stuck with the ones they would ideally want to move on. Its a short term view and, in this case, one which the club I'm sure has regretted more as time passes.
I'd have been a lot more accepting of that if he hadn't have then gone and pi$$ed a staggering ÂŁ7m up the wall to get George Saville.
