Patio recommendations

I'm looking for someone to lay a very nice patio for us....and just looking for 2-3 for prices ;

Any good experiences out there from people/landscapers locally ?

Been on the MyBuilder.com and there are so many....it is hard to just choose 2-3. I always like recommendations from folks.
I normally look for small companies - less overheads and better prices -something like a 2-3 man team that does garden landscaping etc...

Any recommendations would to good to hear....

What type of patio ? Stone , resin etc ? We got a resin one laid (driveway actually) and we picked a light coloured one . Mistake number one as 5 years later it’s impossible to keep it clean looking no matter what I try . Mistake number 2 ia thinking it will never crack or erode . I’ve yet to see a resin one that several years later hasn’t had signs of cracking etc especially if it’s on a drive with cars etc .

Best long term good ones I’ve seen are herringbone stones laid out .

Some nice yorkshire stone type or indian sandstone etc...- for the back garden....

Came here to discourage resin! You beat me to it.
Experienced the same issues as you have listed and also find moss grows quickly on the resin in shadier areas.

We got light grey Porcelain, it's excellent, as it's super easy to clean, that makes a big difference, but it's not cheap mind and also more complicated to install, needs to go on a wet bed and a decent amount of hardcore etc.

I can't even remember who did ours, but picked them as I'd physically seen their work for a mate.

Ours wasn't particularly cheap, Porcelain never is, but when spending that kind of money I certainly wanted to be physically seeing their work, ideally some time after it had been laid, wouldn't be relying on pictures as I'm a picky git.

When taking recommendations without physically seeing peoples work for myself I tend to only rely on recommendations form people in the various trades I know. They've got a much better eye for what's good and what's ****, compared to the average person.

I wouldn't rely on checkatrade or my builder etc unless I was absolutely desperate, I can imagine that's easy to just pay a company to give you loads of fake positive reviews.

Yeah I think trades on mybuilder etc just scoop up jobs from people who don’t really know what they’re looking for, and over charge for average work

Green Onion are fantastic. They did some work for me but they're always booked up months in advance.
As Andy said, for landscaping that is normal. I would not book anyone to do building work or landscaping work who can start soon - it just doesn't really happen with good trades. Usually when you do that you have to help them find a sport for their horse to graze. f

Like Andy I had a patio laid in porcelain tiles. I got slip proof ones having had decking and york stone which can get a bit slimy and dodgy to walk on when wet.

Not cheap but pleased with the end result.

I had the base laid by one lot, bought the tiles direct and then looked for a tiler who did outside work.
