I was very disappointed after Saturday. That was a long journey home licking my wounds and it's taken me til this morning to shrug off the mood. The worst display so far this season, I didn't think we deserved anything from the game really. Came on strong second half without really looking like scoring. They defended well.

We need to give Wilder and the team some time. There have been a lot of structural changes on and off the pitch over the last 12 months.. this is a new Boro, recruitment operates in a new way, playing a new style of football. There's been a huge overhaul this summer.

It's certainly not been the start to the season we'd hope for but it is exactly that, the start. There's a long way to go and we will get better. The players will gel, get up to peak fitness, new players will adapt to the instructions from the manager. Confidence will very quickly come back on and off the pitch with a win (which we deserve after some really good performances so far).

We are a much better team now than we were 12 months ago. The atmosphere in the stands both home and away is better, we're more exciting to watch. It'll click.

We need a win, a bit of luck, for the window to close and we'll start motoring.

Now is certainly not the time to be demanding yet more changes off the pitch and to start again.

Results come over time, not overnight. Roll on Saturday.

I think we are going down a more self sustainable route, bringing in players with potential who can be sold on for profit in the future (see Hoppe & Forss as examples of this).

This doesn't mean we are going to be buying in ready made success so maybe we do have a little bit of pain to go through before we start to see an improvement.

If this means a long term plan to keep us reasonably competitive over the long term without risking Administration or worse then i'm all for it.

As much as people doubt Gibson's long term ambition, we are hamstrung by the limits he can assist, hence the need for another way forward but to be fair we remain one of a handful of clubs (I think only about 15 or 16) to have spent every season over the last 3 decades in the top 2 divisions of English football.

Yes, it's no surprise now that the vast majority of our permanent signings that we have spent, or have looked to spend, money on are around 20-23 years old, lots of promise and potential, minimal risk but hopefully lots of reward (Hoppe, Forss, Greaves).

We've got the structure and foundations of a very good team, that are good to watch and play exciting football. We just need time for them to gel, a little bit of luck, first win of the season to raise confidence and get that winning feeling back and maybe those one of two bits of quality in the team that will hopefully arrive this week.
