Parks to re-open

Government pursuing herd immunity, pretty obvious

cant say I’ll take my child to a park mind, certainly won’t be a guideline I’ll take advantage of

Preston ignoring government advice will cost the council as the government has made it clear any extra payments it will get for the current troubles will be reduced for councils not complying with it's advice.

We will all pay, money and mental healthwise because of Prestons stubbornness.

Opening parks, so that people who don't have gardens can go and enjoy outside space and sunshine/exercise is a good thing.

You can't have seen how the facility was totally abused prior to first being closed ( I refer to Albert Park in particular)

Social gathering was totally ignored and will be again unfortunately

Well, maybe it's a question of what actually helps mitigate the effects of the disease upon our health system. Groups of low risk individuals mixing are unlikely to make a significant difference (unless they pop round to see their granny/vulnerable relative afterwards). Meanwhile, the health benefits of being outside might make some of the parklifers less likely to develop serious disease requiring hospitalisation (ie. they get their vitamin D).

You'll be aware of the gangs that hung around Albert Park even before this pandemic. The same gangs were flaunting social distancing last time, blatantly and with total disregard for other park users.
They will do it again, along with the groups that will fill the play areas,.
I live a minute's walk away from this park and have used the perimeters as part of my permitted exercise walk - I shouldn't have to have more concern about social distancing that I already account for on my walk - if the park re-opens I will not be going anywhere near the place for the foreseeable future

Fine, but it should be there for people prepared to run the risk of encountering vagabonds.

Problem with the parks shut is dog walkers are simply walking round the park, with the paths thin, it's much more likely that dog walkers are endangering themselves than if they were allowed to walk in the park and keep a distance.
The big problem here is Preston is punishing the law abiding, because he isn't capable of policing what every other town and council area are, even with his extra £1 million worth of wardens.
