Paramedic - I’m on strike tomorrow

Such an upsetting decision to make, in 18 years of front line duties I never thought it could ever come to this.
This government has tore the NHS apart From day one. Reading the legislation today around rules to strike, spinning it as if we aren’t providing life threatening cover. This is like Putin’s government attempting to use the media as a propaganda tool.
Well the British public aren’t that stupid.
Everyone of my colleagues due on shift will start at shift start time to check the ambulance over and stand outside the station on a picket line with a radio attached to our belts ready to respond to life threatening Emergencies which we will, because that’s what we do,
It’s been reported it’s all about money which is part of the wider problem but this is more to ensure the publics safety. We genuinely believe we have been backed into a corner and run down so much we have no choice. People are dying because of it.
You would not believe some of the horrendous stories and sights I’ve seen.
F..k this government

Let's hope so.

The anti-strike legislation is truly frightening. After this nobody can doubt we now have a fascist government that will stop at nothing.

Fortunately the proposed legislation seems to be hopelessly framed. Peston has put the boot into it.

Good luck 👍

The Tories clearly have an agenda against the NHS, they ideologically don’t believe in the same healthcare for all independent of ability to pay, so they are trying to run it down so it has to be ‘reformed’.

We had similar extremist government from them in the 1980’s until they got kicked out but then the memories faded and they managed to get back by promising Brexit. Hopefully they will be kicked out for good next election.

I support you. I have seen the queues of ambulances outside A&E a few months ago and understand the pressure you have been under. I am also forever grateful to paramedics and the air ambulance and the NHS in general for saving my daughters life(or at the very least preventing life changing injuries)in a tragic freak accident when she was 5 months old.

Hit the nail on the head there, I’ve no doubt this is a long term plan to privatise the NHS and make a fortune in doing so

As my wife said (nurse in uk and here for over 35 years now), people wouldn't need to/choose to go private if the doctors and surgeons who provide a private service worked a full shift in the NHS. Then everybody could use the NHS facilities, the argument about 'going private to ease the queues' is absolutely danglies.

She also agrees that it is not just about pay. All in the medical professions and emergency services put the service & patients needs above everything else, hence the emphasis on conditions, staffing levels etc.
