Chair of Middlesbrough Supporters Forum Chris Joseph has written this personal message for the community at a time of massive challenge.

"When I was 20 years old I was pulled into a giant machine and almost swallowed alive. Luckily, I just lost an arm. At 30 acute mental illness suddenly kicked in. It wrecked my life for 14 years until I learned to respect the condition and consciously brought it under control.

Very appropriate words, but if people stop being materialistic and shallow, the economy is going to struggle to get going. We all depend on somebody paying over the odds for designer brands, so the rest of us don't have to.
