Which side are you on if you dont like Oasis?
Jeez, that's sad.Was at the Durham Miners Gala yesterday. Among the guests were quite a large contingent from Palestine. There were cheers and there was support but there was also a fair amount of booing and abuse. I saw people shouting at them that they weren't welcome, go home etc. In addition someone who I'm close to marched with Palestinian people and they were spat at, sworn at and abused.
Is this who we are now, abusing a people who are literally being bombed out of existence, with our government supplying their attacker with weapons?
As an additional point, I had a guy with a MAGA hat shout to tell me I'm sinning against God because I wore a rainbow 'Love is love' t-shirt. I didn't have the heart to explain to him that I'm actually a straight dad and grandad who just believes in supporting folk who are routinely picked on by the likes of him.
Can't help thinking we'd be in better shape if we had leaders who led from the front and spelled out to its people why such views and behaviour are unacceptable in a supposedly civilised country.
What did Israel think was going to happen when they continue to treat Palestinians like subhumans, invade their land in the West Bank and continue to persecute them. Its disgusting what is happening now. More innocent children killed today in Gaza. But what did Hamas think was going to happen when they massacred and kidnapped all those innocent Israelis' ? None of this was necessary.
What Hamas did on 7th October was not justified. And neither was Israel’s ongoing disproportionate response. What did Israel think was going to happen when they continue to treat Palestinians like subhumans, invade their land in the West Bank and continue to persecute them.
Agree ,what Hamas did on October 7th was horrendous but are you saying that everything that went before 7th October should be dismissed. What Hamas did on 7th October was not justified. And neither was Israel’s ongoing disproportionate response.
The right sideWhich side are you on if you dont like Oasis?
7/7 was nowhere near the start of this conflictIt’s disgusting what is happening now. More innocent children killed today in Gaza. But what did Hamas think was going to happen when they massacred and kidnapped all those innocent Israelis' ? None of this was necessary.
No. It’s decades and centuries of arguing over land and resources largely based on what God they each believe in. It can’t be simplified or pegged to a specific date.Agree ,what Hamas did on October 7th was horrendous but are you saying that everything that went before 7th October should be dismissed.
See, I knew you didn’t like them. The right side
Can't remember which commentator stayed that UK is a fiscally liberal but socially conservative country but i would say that's pretty accurate. There is developing a political shift between socially liberal and socially conservative and that shift can be the most dominant factor on how they vote. I still to think most of us are not totally one or the other its a bit like saying in the 1930 were you a communist or fascist?
The Labour Party is trying to span the divide and it is difficult. Some political hstorians think the divide has been always been around in the Labour Party. George Orwell described Hampstead socialists who in the late 1930s would have been against the British Empire and wanted relieve poverty, but didn't have the stomach for real social change i.e. welfare state i.e NHS, comprehensive schools, free post 14 education, child benefit, full employement. The Hampstesad socialists he argued didn't really know what it was like to be poor in somewhere like Wigan. To Labour's credit they are possibly the only Party now trying to span the divide. Reform and Conservaitives are going down socially conservative and Liberal and Greens down the socially liberal.
If they kill everyone from Palestine then that people stop being a problem. It’s impossible for me too see what Isreal’s end game is here.
How can they expect to live in peace and security ever with so many innocents being slaughtered?
After the attack a few months on the ambulance convoy where there explaining narrative was proved to be a tissue of lies I haven’t understood how anyone can continue to support actively or tacitly what they are doing.
County Durham pit villages have always had “traditional”values in respect to race and sexual orientationFrom what I've been told there are some very racist views in the pit villiages of Country Durham. Lots of support for the EDL in places like Wingate so I've been told.
That seems to be Netanyahu's end game. Whether he gets away with it is another thing but he's giving it a good go.If they kill everyone from Palestine then that people stop being a problem.
I’m starting to think sadly that you may be right. If they kill everyone from Palestine then that people stop being a problem.
This is the issue, the right wing are brainwashed into thinking that 7 October was the start of this whole conflict and use it as some sort of political weapon to approve of Israels murder. Its disgusting what is happening now. More innocent children killed today in Gaza. But what did Hamas think was going to happen when they massacred and kidnapped all those innocent Israelis' ? None of this was necessary.
