Palace and West Ham allegedly interested in Jones

He's always surrounded by 2 or 3 defenders.
Yet he's still out most creative player.
I don't know what people expect, waltze through 3 defenders and put in a pinpoint cross ? Get in the real world 👍
He's our most creative player!! well that's not saying much with our squad, he's not always surrounded by 2-3 players, he often turns back into trouble when trying to dribble with the ball.
I'm not expecting a pin point cross, but finding one of our forward players with a simple pass would be an improvement..
He is not the same player as last year, or maybe teams have just sussed him out....

My primary worry is that Gibson will not reinvest the proceeds from a big fee - whoever it is that is sold.
Jones and Watmore are currently the only Boro players that entertain me.
If Jones were to be sold and replaced with Mowatt and Smith style signings, or Forss/Hoppe style prospects, then I would be sad.

I think EPL clubs will be willing to spend money on him on the basis that they can improve on his obvious raw talents.

He can be frustrating at times, but he's still our most creative player, even when he's not quite on full form.
I certainly agree he is one of our best creative outlets, although I'd say Giles is the best we have. But for me he shouldn't be our second best creative outlet, is damning of the squad that a limited hot-n-cold player from non-league is our second most creative outlet.

He should really be in and out the team, on his performances, but we haven't got any other realistic options right now

WE do talk some rubbish at times.

He's scored a couple of goals and as usual he has more assists than anyone else

What do you want him to do walk on water ?

Can someone cross-reference the people who said Tav was **** and are now saying Jones is **** so I can ignore them?

this was from early October

I don't think he's having the best season, but he's clearly not awful/lazy/whatever

What he does need is encouragement. But we always do this. Young attacking player comes in, does well, everyone loves him. Hits a rocky patch / opposition tries to nullify him - he's useless.
7th isn’t exactly glaring report. Wing backs should be better than attacking that full backs so he should be automatically above a lot of them based on position alone

As for rocky patch, it’s been the whole in 2022 just about. He burst on the scene no one knew what to do with him, teams have videos on him now and since this has become available his effectiveness has dropped

He had a good game against Marseille where with it being pre season the probably didn’t do a proper scouting job us

As has been said he’s a limited player with high impact moments. He’s needs more high impact moments to make up for his deficiencies

It says a lot when he gets slated- yet is in the top 2 of creative players we have. He is suffering a dip in form - largely down to clubs doubling up on him and I guess a bout of second seasonitis. He will be real quality when adding consistency and improvements in his final ball.

Make no mistake he has a vital role to play for the rest of this season

Yes, I think out lack of creativity in wide areas has been an issue for a number of seasons now.

I'm not sure anyone is saying he's awful, simply that he struggles to make good decisions to make the use of what he is good at. Anyone can see he has some ability, but most of it is in his feet and if he doesn't get his head to the same level he won't fulfil that potential. With a better squad I'd have taken him out of the firing line and got some one to one coaching.

Remember he's only really had 3 years of professional coaching, prior to that it was non-league, as a part time footballer while working. Other 23 year olds have 7 years pro coaching to fall back on. He'll be 5,000 hours of pro coaching behind players of his age group. He needs that one-to-one support to really blossom.
