Paddy played behind the striker for NI

Backs to the wall effort by NI -- both Paddy and Saville played -- Paddy played especially well in very hot and humid conditions.

He’s a versatile player, but what is his ideal position

cb
Def mid
Attack mf
Holding mf
Play maker

Peackock Farrell wage is probably the issue .
We would want a loan , and they pay some of his wages .
Where have we heard this before .
I would be happy with him , Neil will decide who he wants as his no 1 , end of .

6ft 4 now — probably be 6ft 6 soon— nice work by our academy

Bit harsh to be having a dig at the academy, we can't keep every kid on the books, from a financial point of view and a coaching time per scholar it's just not viable. They all develop at different rates with some blooming later than others so I imagine who to keep and who to release is a really tough call.

Young kids are inconsistent in terms of performance so the club aren't going to get it bob on every time, no club does. Look around the leagues at the amount of players who are released from every club but who ultimately make it elsewhere and have decent careers.

I think over the years the academy and it's coaching staff has more than proved it's worth.

It does make you wonder if nepotism played a part though, Farrell is a similar age to Pears but looks a much better keeper did we keep pears because of his Dad?

Goalkeeper is an absolute key position and very underestimated in terms of market value, at our level it’s an area that spending a relatively small amount of money could make a massive difference if done properly, we need an experienced, reliable organiser who makes the saves he should.

Peacock-Farrell is still a work in progress and for me at the moment the priority should be on bringing in someone who may not have the potential of P-F but will provide more consistency and be a defensive bedrock from which we can build, I think he’s out of our budget but someone like Fraser Forster who was loaned out to Celtic last season would be ideal.

Before the days of the 3 points for a win, I think that was true. It's true if your team is chasing the Champions League trophy or the Premier League trophy. But for a cash strapped team in the second tier, I don't think spending a load of money on a goalie will bring much return. Just get someone who is competent and spend the rest of the money on players who are really needed, like strikers and midfielders.
