Paddy McNair

McNair was excellent yet the 'experts' of the board think we should get rid of him and he's useles and the rest the sheep who can't think for themselves all pile on......

Sounds like Lenihan is going to be out for a while so thank goodness Carrick knows the score đź‘Ť
We're short of cover in midfield and at the back so he's worth a place in the squad unless he's that well paid that we could have both midfield and defensive cover on his wages. That said, better the devil you know.

Massively unfair that mate… he has been diabolical for nearly a year.

I am happy to admit ( and have done above) that he had a good game today, but that can’t get away from the previous 12 months.

I genuinely hope his performance today is the kick on he needed for the rest of the season
If you think McNair is diabolical you don't go the games.....

I'm not his greatest fan when he's playing CH. But to be fair, there was atime I was wondering what was the point of Lenihan signing.
What I would say is that most players are finding consistency now under a coach who seems to know what he is doing, as opposed to Billy BS Wilder.

nobody is piling on him Nobby, he played well enough today, but he did make some errors out of possession. He's not terrible, but has limits getting bullied as a championship CB isn't a good trait

The Boy Done Good.
An the Gaffa Knows it!
2014.........Is there any player or Manager, Michael Carrick doesnt know, or hasnt played alongside or against?!!

Thought he was decent today in the main. The only time he really got caught out was when Fleming done him one v one, he then tried a cyclical foul and completely missed.

Considering he’s had little game time recently, he performed well. When we are on top of games like we were for the first hour, it’s a massive help to McNair as he’s generally good at picking a pass and bringing the ball forward.

Some really disappointing comments on this thread about a player who fully played his part in a good win today. I'm amazed that people see fit to focus on his 'mistakes'. Perhaps they'd like to comment on Steffen's attempts at suicide football in the 2nd half and Hackney's 5 minutes of madness in the 1st during which he would have certainly gifted Millwall a goal had their player not stepped on the ball. Get off the lad's back.

I was trying to forget about Steffen!

His form suffered under Wilder playing in that stupid back 3. McNair was often the so called 'overlapping' centre back and was caught out a few times when he lost possession and couldn't get back, he was obviously playing under orders.

Look what happened to Fry with his loss of form under Wilder yet nobody seems to be slagging him off.

Warnock said McNair was the best player he's ever managed, some people have VERY short memories.....

"I can’t think of one better (than McNair), I really can’t,” said Boro boss Neil Warnock. “I keep thinking, but I can’t come up with anyone.

“I’ve had goalscorers – (Adel) Taarabt and (Victor) Moses and people like that, individuals who can do a bit of magic. But as a player, as a pro, as a person, I’ve never had a better specimen than this.

“The really exciting thing is that he’ll get better than this too. I’ll be surprised in the next two or three years if he’s not playing in Europe at the very top. He’s the best I’ve ever seen.”
