Pace

I wouldn't be making pace a priority: it will only take you so far and we have enough raw pace in the team as it is.

What we should prioritise is guile and skill; if said player happens to have some pace too, it's a bonus.

If we are competing for promotion, many teams will sit deep against us, particularly at home, and that will neutralise pace. Many clubs would be fine with a 0-0 away to a contender.

We need players who can unpick a packed defence when there's no space in behind. While we should be able to counter attack, counter attacking should not be our default way of playing. We need to take the initiative and boss games.

I actually think ELL with McGree Azaz and Jones behind has a pretty good blend of athleticism and guile. However, we're going to need some more depth.

I hope we prioritise skill and guile over physical attributes.
Totally agree with this post. We've struggled this year at home particularly against sides who play a low block. The likes of Rotherham who come for a point and anything else is a bonus.

We need that guile and skill to unlock a defence. Technical ability is of paramount importance. Pace can get the job done too, don't get me wrong, but it's less effective when there's no space in behind. We need players who can pick a pass or have clever movement to find the space. I'd like a real wild card flair player to come off the bench if needed in these tight games.
