Owen Jones interviews 'Brighton Bomber' and daughter of the man he killed

Yeah, I'm undecided as to whether I will or not. West Belfast is a staunch Republican area so I would have to have my wits about me anyway.
There are still people in that city with entrenched anti British views just bubbling under the surface. Sinn Fein is almost a cult like party, where nobody is allowed to question the party line. They are still run by the IRA Army Council.

I doubt he would feel remorseful. I’m a catholic of Irish heritage and I have nothing but hatred for the provos. Any organisation that can bomb innocents enjoying a pint in Guildford or Birmingham, children shopping in Warrington, respecting the war dead at Eniskillen and God knows how many other sick acts cannot in my eyes call themselves an army. They were backstreet gangsters. Cowards of the highest order.
We are of the same ilk. I utterly despise them. Enniskillen, Omagh it goes on and on. The murder of a mother of 10 and then refusing to tell them where their mother was.

It surprised me that many of them still campaign for people to be brought to justice today, for Republicans who were murdered during the course of the troubles. I just find it a bit hypocritical and it's hardly going to help with drawing a line in the sand.

Harry himself believed in this. I told him there there should be an amnesty for soldiers due to paramilitary members being released from prison as part of the GFA and he didn't seem to like that.

A little story from years ago. I had a good mate in Special Branch. One day he had to fly an IRA guy back to bBelfast. Being cuffed he thought he would strike up
A conversation with the guy. He asked him
Where he thought he would be in 5 years. The response was along the lines of no idea- followed by telling my pal his name and rank in Special Branch. Needless to say my mate was angry and concerned in equal measures. He presumed some idle talk fromPolice officers had blown what cover he had wide open.

The Republicans only want the world to see things from their perspective. 'Revisionists' who want to rewrite history on their terms only. They are fantasists who want the 'troubles' to be seen through rose tinted spectacles, their side being the oppressed all the time, perpetual victims of the conflict THEY started. They only sued for peace because they were so badly infiltrated by British spies going to the very top of the organisation. Rumours still abound that Adams and McGuinness were both MI5 spies, that is why they were never locked up and allowed to continue. They need to acknowledge that it was a dirty war and horrible things were committed on BOTH sides. Eire will not accept Sinn Fein as a true democratic political party until they renounce the atrocities they carried out, and follow a real democratic process.

"Eire will not accept SF" ?

"Eire will not accept SF" ?
I should have been clearer. What I mean is in the long term unless Sinn Fein come in from the cold and embraceReal constitutional politics they will not be accepted. The problem is Eire has a majority population of younger people now who were not born during the dark days of the IRA campaign. These are the demographic they appeal to

Well they seem to be the party on a roll in the Republic, they could hold the power in the not too distant future
