Over 1,600 Students Test Positive for Coronavirus in Newcastle Over Past 7 Days

In the short term its scary, but after 5 days, they will be virus free and very unlikely be infected again, giving the virus less fertile ground to spread in the future, so in the medioum to long run its good news.

Its the over 50s that tend to have problems.

Not scary at all
Little impact as long as they are not going around infecting the vulnerable
Reports today saying more than 80% of those getting +ves (in general, not related to students) don’t get core symptoms.
It’s a bit like them getting a bit of a cold

Imagine students getting point when they first start uni?

It's only been happening every year since the inception of modern university teaching.

Reminds me of the time I took my girlfriend now wife to Leeds university many moons ago. I stayed down there for a few days whilst she settled in. We went out on the lash for Freshers week as you do, watered down beer and takeaways for 3 days. Few days later after the hangover had subsided had a dose of the dreaded fresher's flu. It was grim. 🤢

No wonder the national figures appear so bad, take the students out of the numbers and see if the draconian, nanny state, lockdowns look so justifiable.

When diagnosed wasn’t it? Doesn’t mean symptoms wouldn’t then develop after the positive result.
