Our kit looks miles better when we wear red shorts.

Boro played in all red when I first started to go to matches back in 1967

Are you sure? I don't recall red shorts until much, much later.

I don't like red anyway, but red shorts make Boro look like a team wearing some cheap knock off Liverpool kit.

Please get rid of all those hoops and white bits on the shirt, and if it has to be red then go with a plain red shirt, white or black shorts and socks.

I prefer Man Utd's kit to Liverpool, so if it has to be red, then yes. Here is John O'Rourke scoring against Oxford in 1967 in a red shirt and white shorts combo. Boro wore plain red shirts and white shorts for the best part of a hundred years before all this faffing about with white bands and stripey bits.

The hoop is the best bit in my opinion!

Of course the red shorts look better, especially with the white chest band, but more importantly we simply do much better in red shorts than white.

Red shorts for the first time in 1969-70 season, an inspired change from loser white shorts.
Promoted in them in 1973-74. We then had 8 seasons in the top flight in red.
It changes back to white shorts on relegation and we have 4 desperate years that lead to relegation to the third tier (as in 1965-66).
We go up to the top flight and then straight back down in white shorts in both 89 and 93.
We then go up in white in 95, stay up a season before dropping out again in white.
We go back up in white in 98, stay up 2 seasons before shifting back to red in 2000 and 8 seasons of red shorts, cup success and European adventure.
We go down to the second tier and again bizarrely (Steve) revert to white shorts and experience the same years of misery as post Murdoch relegation. We return to red shorts again in 2015-16, get promoted and then of course turn to white shorts and go down as poorly as the belly band did.
Since then its been grim in white again.

So since turning red in 69, we have played 23 seasons in the top flight. 16 of them have been in red shorts and 7 in white in which we were relegated 4 times.
14 good top flight seasons in red, just 3 in white.
We won our only Cup in red shorts and played our only European football in red shorts.
Both times we've been relegated in red shorts after long red short stays in the top flight, we've changed to white and had greater misery. Even when we do go up in white, we come quickly back down. We've only ever played in the third tier in white shorts and nearly did again this season.

Sevilla v Boro
Boro v Cardiff

If for no other reason than these two games, the red shorts should be consigned to the bin.

:)
