Opinium has Labour 8 points ahead

Truss can do a lot of damage before the next GE, we shouldn't be too concerned by polls right now, more concerned about how we can make the time period to the next GE as short as possible.
Prospective cabinet candidates mooted today make me worry that there will be absolutely nothing of merit achieved by her government. Big mouths and little brains for so many of the names mentioned.

Completely agree mate, a government cabinet with Kwarteng, Coffey, Braverman and Simon Clarke doesn’t fill me with much confidence going into the winter crisis…🤣

But Labour offer no opposition. Starmer is failing. Labour should be 20 points ahead etc etc.
I think Starmer will do as good a job as he can as PM but it’s true that he should be 20pts ahead but he lacks charisma and that’s vital if you want to woo people to vote for you

Picking truss hands the election to labour because truss has zero charisma and doesn’t understand the economics to help people and businesses enough in the short term
Tory faithful are now ultra right wing and the country is moving to the left of centre as they look to the state to step up and in to support us
People are finally realising that privatisation of energy isn’t working now we have lunatics supplying the energy

I mean, Starmer’s already offered to freeze fuel bills before October, fully funded.

If people don’t want a free £2,000 and would prefer PM Liz Truss, five more years like the last 12 and throwing their wages at vastly profitable energy companies, then they’re thick as F***ing pigshit frankly.
OMG
Have you not worked out that mr and Mrs average or above average earners (that’s the majority) are so incredibly stupid when it comes to politics and being dealt the ‘smoke and mirrors’ bull that tories spout is taken in and they vote Tory
I mean look at the hundreds of billions brexit is costing this country but the tories and the majority of the right wing press frame it as ‘opportunities still not being taken’

We have a labour crisis
A water crisis because the fat cat owners take the pi$$ and water leaking everywhere whilst massive wages paid for top bosses
Energy strategy relies on a large portion from the eu in winter. The eu get it from Russia predominately therefore by definition we get a certain amount from Russia
Zero forward thinking strategy since putin invaded crimea showing everyone what he is capable of.

The leaders of the uk have badly let down the uk public but lie their way out of it in order to confuse people and run labour down and people vote Tory out of scare tactics.

The uk, when you scratch all the facade of elections away, lives in a defacto dictatorship….from the elite schooled mostly out of eton and Oxford and Cambridge….
It’s hard to accept but it’s true

Starmer has no charisma,No personality, he doesn't laugh and joke enough ?
Were talking about the seriousness of running a country here, kids starving ,people about to struggle like never before ,not about being a cheeky chappy and ruffling his hair every time the cameras are around.
this is serious stuff ..but were living with Love island, I'm a celebrity this that and the other..The Worlds gone fkn mad..
Starmer wipes the floor with anyone from the other side but...hes not funny enough!!! god help us as a nation if you had any doubt about this complete and utter debacle in the current Tory ranks atm.

You’re bang on here by the way. For me, if anyone involved in the entire production and supply process of energy is making £1 in profit, that means bills are collectively £1 too high.

It’s as literally essential a service as you can get, it’s how people cook to feed their kids and keep them warm.

Politics is one of those things that makes people angry but I’m enraged by the idea that energy prices can be jacked up by thousands and thousands each year, and a government will just shrug whilst the companies involved post billions and billions in profit.

It’s not even just disgusting, it’s impossible, and I’m firmly behind the idea of people just not paying it until the people who set the prices give their heads a shake, or the government intervenes. There comes a point where you have to make a value judgement about things; if the price of water went up to £1000 a glass, too right I’d still drink it because I need it to stay alive, but there’s no way I’d pay that for it, it’s not a fair price, and they’re welcome to send me as many letters as they like.

We use the term “crisis” a lot, but if fuel bills go up to what they’re trying to put them up to, that’s a proper national crisis and will cause serious problems, either financial or physical, for tens of millions. And this is happening, starting in two months.

It’s outrageous that Truss’s idea to fix that is “no handouts tho, we might cut corporation tax a bit”.
