Only Bola & Morsy get any credit tonight!

OP is spot on, the only players to emerge from that ominshambles with any credit were Morsy and Bola.
They both played better on saturday, but did ok tonight.

Literally everyone else was horrendous, including my favourite, Watmore.

The worrying thing is I'm not surprised in all honesty.

McNair and Howson were horrific.

I think you having a bout of confirmation bias when you watch morsy
Nope. Not at all. Just think was poor again. Would play him in his favoured role on Saturday instead of us thinking he’s some wonderful box to box player, he isn’t. He’s a defensive midfielder and this where he should play on Saturday

Urgency. That's the word. We rarely show it and that's why some teams figure us out

He seemed to me to be trying to drive us forward in that second half and was head and shoulders above Howson tonight.

Agreed Bola played well, Morsy was giving it everything not hiding, and Watmore had moments other than that terrible.

Betinelli 5 - too slow off his line, cruelly exposed, 1 good save early on
Fisher 5 - quiet game, didn't look fit, got hooked
Fry 5 - started of well, but then as everything fell apart around him he struggled
Dijksteel 4 - seemed to fall over everytime he tried to turn, all over the place
McNair 4 - poor defensively mixed deadballs
Bola 7 - got on the ball, drove forward, put some good crosses in and linked with the players around him
Howson 2 - his worst performance for us by a long way, kept getting caught in possession and leaving our defence exposed
Morsy 6 - gave it his all, much more comfortable on the ball than he has been before, good passing and dribbling with hte ball, finally finding his feet with us
Kebano 5 - didn't get a lot of space, didn't create...but at least didn't give it away
Watmore 6 - had moments, wasn't afraid to drive towards the box
Fletcher 6 - had started well before the injury.

Akpom 3 - M.I.A.
Mendez-Laing 3 - kept trying to beat his man, failing and loosing the ball
Johnson 6 - buzzed about, offered more than NML and should be above him in the pecking order
Britt 3 - M.I.A.
Saville 5 - Better than Howson, but hardly dominant

Oh but he did. If someone can get the stats for me I can guarantee he gave away at least 5 fouls.
He gave away 6 fouls, but, only Bola had more key passes, he had the most dribbles (3), zero unsuccessful touches, two tackles and 3 interceptions makes him our second most influential defensive player, he also made the most passes and they were not all backwards.

6 fouls, too many that. Really is. Pointless ones most of the time. I thought he was poor yesterday. We need more from midfield. Tav is the man to build around now, I hope Howson finds some form again as he was our worst player

It is too many, but two of them were tactical to slow the opposition from breaking after a team mate gave the ball away. He does give silly fouls away most games mind

Maybe I am being harsh as allover social media people said he played relatively well but for me he just looked ordinary but it can’t of helped playing alongside Howson as that’s his worst game for us. I hope Tav can start Saturday and I would keep Morsy in but I do hope he stops the persisting fouling

Ref Morsy - its a bit like saying Roy Keane always gave free kicks away - they are ball winners thats their role. Morsy never stopped.

Ref McNair - but posters on here insist his best position is central defender. I tend the think its defensive midfield, more like Veira. Last night we played too high for the windy conditions in the first half which also exposed some of our weaknesses at the back.z

Kebano must be really wondering why he's joined us. His touch, control and intent (looking to beat a man and move forward) is practically unrivalled in our team. It was noticeable before he got taken off he just started following Watmore around as he's the only other player on his wavelength.

I was (still am) very excited when we signed him but it's clear that he can't do it on his own. The attacking players we brought in January are all full of promise but I think we're still figuring out how to use them, which at the end of feb is a little worrying.
