Online shopping - elderly customers

Anyone know if there‘s a mechanism that allows elderly customers to gain priority for online orders? My mother lives alone, carers have just told me they won’t be able to her shopping for her in the near future and there don’t seem to be any online slots available.

Any ideas appreciated....

Read in Guardian that Sainsbury's were only doing vulnerable people (although some struggling to place orders). Not sure if it was only the 1.5m though.

Your local authority should be able to help. In emergency, contact your local foodbank as a lot will deliver food.

Also delivering food was one of the remits of the 700000 NHS volunteers.

There are folk in most communities now who will do shopping for those unable to get out. If nothing else you could get their number and ask for help.

Iceland are prioritising deliveries to those over state retirement age. But, you need to keep checking for slots as they are released throughout the day rather than in a block. Most of the time the slots will show as not available but try checking at different times of day. It’s a bit frustrating but worth a try.

Forgot to say that some local corner shops in Nottingham will take orders over the phone and deliver to the doorstep. Also, fruit and veg shops are doing home deliveries. Worth checking Gazette website as Nottingham Post is part of the same group and has lists of local shops making deliveries.

Tesco, sainsburies and Ocado are all using the government list, it just depends if she is on it; many local stores, farm shops and the like will do Contactless deliveries. Is she registered as vulnerable? My mum is due to cancer and they’re getting a weekly box delivered

My wife is in the vulnerable group and couldn't get onto Sainsburys. Its all a bit chaotic at the moment.

Have you tried checking for Facebook groups local to her? I know from my own FB that both the TS8 group and Stokesley groups have people who've volunteered?
These nice people may be able to help or at least point you in the right direction if she lives on Teesside https://www.theteessidefamily.com/
