One thing that has annoyed me about this red card etc

I see what you mean , but perhaps it shows Boro in a good light whereby if a team is stupid to go a man down against us, we are good enough to organise and really show that we can take advantage. In addition we get the 3 points and it virtually counts as 8 goals between us and the Mackems.

Not for me. Totally irrelevant how many men they had. What people say now doesn't take away the feeling when Crooks got the second!

I was gutted last season when we lost 2-0 with 10 men, so this makes it sweeter!

First half we were decent (very good for 20 minutes) but thought we were a bit sloppy at times. Josh didn't quite bring people in to play as well as we can, Barlaser was caught on the ball a few times (much better second half) and Crooksy/Greenwood/Izzy wasted good positions. I think we shaded the first half and blew them away in the second. I will take that!

I agree I don’t mean gloss for me I’m talking in a wider context.

I’m the other way Jedi, sometimes when teams go down to ten they put all men behind the ball and defend for their lives, it can actually make it harder for an attacking team like ourselves to exploit, we were that good we capitalised and blew them away. All that matters in the history books is 4-0 to the mighty Boro, UTB!

That’s what carrick said that’s my point the red card should galvanise the win not diminish it as the mackems trying to do.

I watched the second half with the Sunderland commentary, expecting it to be biased and blaming the red card on the result, but it was actually very objective and gave Boro credit for a good first half performance and the clinical dismantling of them second.

Also recognised they were very naive and did not manage the game at all after going down to 10 men.

I view it as a reward for stupidity. Yes, a little harsh but you have been warned about bad mouthing referees this season and you already have a yellow card for a "tackle" that could have been a red. Stupid is as stupid does.

I take your point that it would have been better to whup them 0-4 11v11 but we've all seen enough games where 10 men have taken a point or more to know that it is still a proper whuppin'

I celebrated wildly for each goal, not bothered that it was against 10 men.

Biggest ever away win against our rivals, and a great performance.

We more than matched them with 11v11, and outplayed them for long periods of the first half, even accounting for the red card, they were very poor in the second.

Last season, they totally outplayed us in the first half, but I actually thought we were the better team with 10 men in the second, and just got caught out pushing for an equaliser.

If we had beat them 1-0 after they went down to 10 men, yeah, would get the victory would have been a bit "hmmmm". The mackems would be bleating on how they would have beat us 11 v 11 etc etc

But we absolutely destroyed them second half. Their naiveity was astounding, and the way their heads went down pretty much as soon as Greenwood scored.....

All they could do was blame the ref. That's it. They got their ars*s well and truly spanked. Bright red, unable to sit down for hours.

Not in the NE so haven't seen the media reaction up there, but in my little corner of Stockport.....gloss was well and truly untarnished 👍

Us going down to 10 men last season did not take any shine off for them when they beat us.

The thing is, they had the whole of half time yesterday to reorganise, set the ten men up properly and get ready for the second half. Don't forget it was 0-0, they had something to hold on to.

Last year we had to deal with a player being wrongly sent off, conceding a pen and being 1-0 down almost straight after HT with no time for tactical instructions and adjustments.

So all things considered in my book, we absolutely systematically dismantled them in the second half yesterday and it was magical to watch.

The sending off was a game-changer, as is often the case when one team goes down to 10 men.

Thought we started the game off well but they grew into it as the half wore in. I'd imagine it would have been a very different 2nd half had they not been down to 10 men.

Mowbray got his tactics wrong 2nd half but we were ruthless and pressed them high up the field. They had no outlet and we basically bullied them into submission.
