One of the best ever glam rock songs

I'd go Bolan too, proud to say the first single I ever bought aged 8 was Jeepster, with record tokens I'd got for Xmas 1971. My elder brothers took me into Woolies in Redcar to buy it! Erm, and Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West too!

Loved a lot of the stuff back then, Slade and Wizzard in particular along with Bolan. Today I still give them a listen, Bolan's "Dandy In The Underworld" and Slade's "Far Far Away" and "How Does It Feel?" right up there!

In 2002 I was at the opening night of "We Will Rock You" at the Dominion, probably the worst thing I've seen on a stage in 40 odd years. The first night party was over the road at the Astoria ( with it's sound effect carpets) and was the worst first night party I've ever been to. Basically a load of s**t 70's & 80's has been's, singing equally s**t 70's & 80's songs! Tony Hadley sings Toto, I kid you not! Then in the middle of it all on strode Roy Wood and blew every fecker else out of the building!

Roy Wood - now you're talking! A masterful songwriter and top, top multi-instrumentalist. Anyone who gets into the top 10 playing cello, bassoon and bagpipes on Phil Spector pastiches gets my vote!
