One downside of all-English European finals.

Up to 13 members of the expected England squad will be unavailable for the training camp and warm up matches before the Euros.
Both of those games are of obviously being played at the Riverside too.

It could seriously disrupt preparations.

Stones, Sterling, Foden, Walker, Chillwell, Mount, James, Henderson, Rashford, Maguire, Shaw, Greenwood, Saka.

They all could be missing, and I'd expect up to 6 of them to be starting the first match of the Euros.

You'd maybe expect them to be available for the second game which is a week after the cl final, but it's a fair point. Similar thing happened before the Semi Final of the nations league in 2019.

Pros and cons. If Foden (for example) scores the winner in the CL final he's going to be going into the Euros full of belief.

I don't really think it really matters about Arsenal either way.
They've got no players who should be anywhere near the starting line up for England.

But Man United are through and they have plenty who will be.
Ah ok yes. Lot of talk generally about 4 sides in the finals but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Emery chalk off yet another Europa League title.

Germany will be without Werner, Havertz, Rudiger, Gundogan.

Spain without Azpilicueta, Eric Garcia, De Gea, Ferran Torres, Rodri, potentially Moreno or Bellerin.

France without Pogba, Kante, Mendy, Giroud, Martial, Zouma

Portugal without Bruno Fernandes, Cancelo, Dias, Bernardo Silva

Probably missed out a few as well, so works boths way really and always has done, didn't seem to effect Spain when Barca were dominant during their dominant spell.

True, but it's always nice to throw an early excuse in.

They're all missing far fewer players.

13 missing players is far more than 6, 5 and 4.

This century, Barcelona have only been in one Champions League final in the same season as an international tournament, in 2006.

The final was the 17th of May, the World Cup started on the 9th of June, only 3 of their players were in the Spain squad.
Not one of those 3 players will have missed the start of training with Spain.

The final this year is the 29th of May, the Euros starts on the 11th of June.

I think this is also the point about the jealousy and ESL ideas right now. We actually have it here, a competitive league, ok, not perfect, and with a few teams likely to win, but enough tough games to keep everyone on their toe, even the biggest. Can the same be said for Spain or France? According to reports that was half the problem for RM and PSG the past few days. Not enough realism, no losing and too much taken for granted. Let's just hope to hell that teams like Arsenal can challenge once again in the future, that the big six can still be a six, or hopefully more, and that we don't become a Scotland (worse example) or France (actually even worse) or Spain(bad enough).

Real Madrid are a better example than Barcelona, this century they've been in 5 finals in the same year as an international tournament.

Most recently at the last World Cup, where Spain struggled, though a big part of that was down to sacking their coach days before the tournament.

The final was on the 26th of May, the tournament started on the 14th of June.
They had 6 Spanish players in their side, 6 is still a lot less than 13.

The gap between the end of the club season and start of the national tournament has never been closer than it is this year.

One thing that should offset some of the issues that are bound to arise from this is the fact that it's effectively a home tournament for England.

It shouldn't take too long to transition and get settled, even with the delayed arrival.
