One Boro ITK claims Neil is off

My gut feeling is replacing a manager every 12 months is more a negative than a positive. Watford have had relegations too. For the money invested they have underachieved say compare them with Brighton or Burnley or Palace. It must also be a very expensive process as you still pay the sacked manager if under contract.
Yeah agree - I personally don’t like it, but guess it’s the ultimate example of picking a ‘coach’ to coach the players they’re given, rather than a ‘manager’ to run everything about the club.

It’s an interesting model because even though it seems like it’s destabilising, it’s designed to give the club more stability - in that a bad manager has no control over player recruitment so can’t ruin the club with bad signings, they’re just a dispensable coach and the plan stays in place regardless of who the manager is. Spanish and Italian teams mostly operate like this.

You’ve got to have serious faith in your Director of Football though…

Lots of rumours starting to come out now. They usually do when it looks like a change is imminent/manager sacked. Don’t know how true it all is but it sounds pretty toxic right now. Scott has his work cut out

JGS

Do you have a choice of manager you would pick if you were Chairman?
Nope! Haha.

It’s a very 90s Boro appointment but I’d have a real crack at Gerrard. Suspect that ship has sailed with how well he’s done at Rangers, but I think he’d be a brilliant fit and think he could possibly be tempted - Steve Gibson is a brilliant chairman for an up-and-coming manager to work for and the potential is there with us, we should be in the Premier League.

You can understand some of the young players being unhappy hence the social media post.

why are some of them not included in the squad and instead we only name 6 subs for a game. This has happened a few times under Warnock.

Also signing a player from non league who looks no better than players from the under 23s and he’s getting on the bench and coming on.

I don’t have an issue with Olusanya, but it reeks of a Warnock signing and one for him to try and prove a point and show that he can still spot a player. Pretty clear so far though that he’s out of his depth, and as I say I don’t have an issue with him, but it’s obvious he’ll end up out on loan and then released in a year or two. Low risk but is he really going to be any better than Burrell?

it is weird and I don't hate him but he is the first Boro manager that we have had that I have never warmed to, not really sure why maybe I just don't trust him, anyway I suspect it is just a rumour about him leaving and nothing will come off it!
This isn’t my thought process, but I can see where your coming from.

Totally agree. It was Warnock being put out that we were identifying players he didn’t know about/want and trying to get one over on the recruitment team. Also gives him a nice little anecdote for Talk Sport - I can hear it now “they were spending £6m on South American’s and I was forced to look at non league”.

I don’t understand why Warnock decided to stay as he’s clearly been very unhappy at that set up.

I don’t have an issue with him either and hope he comes good but he has got a lot to do to step up it seems at the moment.

It feels like the next manegerial appointment will be the most crucial for years- let's hope Scott comes up with the right fit.

That fifa post shows there’s an issue and obvious disconnect within the club.

if that is how they really feel and they must to be so public then it’s deeply worrying how toxic things are behind her scenes.

For some reason I've never felt that we were ever 'his' club. He is mainly working for Steve Gibson and we are a by-product.
I've never known a manager speak so fondly so wistfully and so often about previous jobs and clubs. I find it a bit disrespectful.
That is what happens when someone is coming to the end of a good career, you look back when prompted by a question or when someone maybe makes reference to his previous teams. That is respectful, It's a nod to the past, that's all. Lets be honest here, there has been some blooming awful performances by snr players who should have delivered more than they have and also younger squad members who don't appear to learn. I don't think NW should take all of the blame, players have to do more.
I want NW to finish the season, he deserves that much. I want to be able to say thanks, you gave it a go. It will give Mr Gibson more time to get the right man in.

He has to go, a dinosaur in the modern game who's taken our club backwards to Strachan/Pulis times. Never feel sorry for a sacked multi millionaire football manager.
