I think there’s enough people now who have seen through him for him to be gone for good.

Even his supporters in positions of influence that he always ends up blaming someone else.

I’m always interested to know what people think his actual achievements in office have been. Pretty much every report on his work shows he is terrible in every role.

I would argue that his previous track record of gaffes and lies should have been enough for people to not have voted for his party in the first place, and that this ending was always going to happen - but I appreciate that I am very much over-simplifying things!

I would recommend reading Broken Heartlands by Sebastian Payne. He tours the north to find out why so many constituencies flipped to Johnson.

What struck me about his supporters is that they mention more than Brexit, immigration and jobs... Positivity. They just want someone to tell them that everything's going to be alright.

I just don't know how any political party can gain these votes if these people just crave baseless optimism and refuse to accept that the world is actually quite complicated.

Think it was a channel 4 news feature on red wall seats where they interviewed some local old woman and asked who she was voting for at the next election.

"Probably conservative" she said. Her reasoning being the area had become really run down over the last decade or so and labour hadn't done anything to stop that happening.
