Olympics - Argentina v Australia

Well, we only saw 15mins but his touch and poise on the ball looked excellent. he took 2 corners and under hit them, free kick, plenty of power but needed to get it a foot higher. But love his control on the ball

Thought he looked alright in the limited time he was on the pitch - given they wer 10 men at the time. Not the best free kick but always looking to carry the ball forward.

Sounds like Juninho, the only thing that was bad was his corners, and probably his free-kicks too.

hard to judge on 15-20 mins. I mean he certainly showed a bit of confidence on the ball and that's a good thing. There will certainly be a few people that saw his 2 near post corners and will have decided he can't take corners now :ROFLMAO: 🤦‍♂️

Yeah my comment was a bit tongue in cheek, as had we assessed TLF on his corner ability then he would have been in the Northern league.

Hopefully, he comes good, but I'm dreading him have a quiet start here and then this place kicking off for two years or whatever.

I know right. It's a massive move for him, he might the ground running and look a world class player or he ight take 12 months to really settle. We've got to give him a bit of grace particularly since he won't even have trained with the other lads until after the season starts. I'm sure most sensible fans will accept that, there will be others who can't wait to knock him sadly

I saw just about enough yesterday to go out on a limb, something I rarely do with a player I have barely seen 😬

1. Payero was always looking for the ball.
2. He was constantly moving into space when Argentina had possession.
3. He was tracking back and happy to tackle out of possession.
4. His passing was excellent and forward thinking.
5. He is clearly confident on free kicks and set pieces.
6. He will add much needed height.
7. He looked a capable ball carrier.
8. He didn’t dwell on the ball, his awareness of teammates and their runs looked sharp

He gave Argentina a lift I thought. I think he could well be a proper attacking CM, someone who wont shirk his defensive duties either. Yes, we saw mere snippets and it is impossible to be sure how he will be in the Championship against the streetwise characters that ply their trade here. Will he even settle in England? There are personal challenges he will have to overcome, but NW will look after him. IF and it is an IF, Payero performs at the level he did for the 15-20 minutes he was on the pitch yesterday at Boro, our fans will love him.

I would think he is a player that could be destined for the top. He so reminded me of Heine Otto. I appreciate thats a bold call based on a cameo and this post may come back to haunt me, but I think we are signing a real gem. Lets hope so anyway. The caveat is the fans give him time to settle in the area and not expect a Juninho or a Messi, he isn’t that type of player.

I could crush a grape right now.

in the 20mins yesterday I'd agree with that, except the Heine Otto bit, clearly a boyhood hero for you?

Heine was indeed a hero of mine that much is true. He was a top top player in a poor team, I was amazed we hung onto him. A really good attacking midfielder with a decent goals to game ratio.
