Ok 3 games left

I’m not hopeful we can win any of the the remaining games - Reading would seem the most likely to get something, can’t see anything against Cardiff. Think we might still be biting our nails come the last game

It is such a mess that has been years in the making, Karanka recruiting lots of defenders / defensive midfield. Setting up to be hard to beat with one up front.
Awful recruitment, when we blew the cash under monk there were not many complaining about Britt then, we have had Fletcher for three years only now looking anything like a player.
We have some young talent that hopefully progresses with us but the older heads are duds really, critical what we do after the season ends esp if we are still in the championship as the current squad will get us relegated next season for sure.

For me the next 1 or 2 seasons is about surviving the financial impact of coronavirus.

If some of the reports are correct, we might win the league by default 😔.

The next fixtures include Wigan v Hull and Birmingham v Charlton.

The weekend fixtures include Charlton v Wigan and Hull v Luton.

I can't for the life of me work out the best results as far as Boro are concerned.

Wigan to beat Hull
Charlton to beat Wigan.
Hull and Luton to draw.

That would leave Wigan on 45 points
Hull on 46 points
Luton on 45 if QPR beat them.
Barnsley hopefully lose all 3 of their games and stay on 43 points.

We could be safe with 2 draws or 1 win on the back of that, maybe even just 1 draw.

Charlton to beat Wigan?

I think it would be better to keep as many teams and points between Boro and the bottom three as possible.

Why?

It doesn't matter whether we finish 17th or 21st, as long as we stay up.
You don't want one of the teams already in the relegation zone to pick up points.

People were trotting out the line that Luton beating Huddersfield was good for us, but it just meant that Luton now have a good chance of staying up when they looked buried before that win.

Obviously if Luton pick up maximum points, it's better for Charlton to stay beneath us, but I'd given what I think are the optimal results above.
