The annual pantomime extravaganza is back at Middlesbrough Theatre - oh yes it is! And the stars of the stage are abuzz with excitement to be back doing what they love best.

Peter Pan, presented by Extravaganza Productions, stars Mark Little as Captain Hook, Joe Rowntree as Mr Smee, Shelley Anne Rivers as Miranda the Mermaid and Melissa Jane Fleming as Wendy.

Audiences will also be delighted to see the return of Middlesbrough madcap favourites, Philip Green as Peter Pan and Terry Ashe as Captain Cecco.

Mark Little, best known for his role of Joe Mangel on Australian soap phenomenon Neighbours is delighted to be playing Captain Hook for the festive season.

A pantomime regular since 1990, Mark was also a popular host on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast, and is well known around the Fringe circuits for writing, designing and directing his own productions.

Britain's Got Talent winner and loveable character and comedy impressionist Philip Green is always ready to fly in to Neverland as Peter Pan.

As well as a huge variety of theatre, TV and film credits, Phil also has a massive digital presence with his YouTube show ‘The Philip Green Show' that regularly clocks up millions of viewers and a TikTok channel that has truly taken off with over 64 million likes and 3.7 million followers.

Stand-up comedian and presenter Joe Rowntree will take to the stage as Mr Smee.

Starting his career writing put-downs for Anne Robinson on The Weakest Link, Joe has also featured in all six series of Sky 1's Brainiac: Science Abuse and hosted two UK tours of Brainiac Live.

As a stand-up he has performed at comedy venues and festivals across the UK and international comedy circuit and has supported Rhod Gilbert, Stephen K Amos and Sean Hughes.

Shelley Anne Rivers is an experienced actress across stage and screen. She has worked with some of the greats including Andrew Lloyd Webber, Glenn Close, Rick Wakeman, Alfie Boe and Lulu to name just a few.

A popular choice on the pantomime circuit across the UK and the Middle East, she has played a huge variety of roles from Cinderella to the Lilac Fairy. She is thrilled to be back in Middlesbrough, making magic as Miranda the Mermaid.

Melissa Fleming as Wendy has played title roles on stage and TV, including Alice in Wonderland, Cinderella, Serena in Legally Blonde and Lizzie Briars in the BBC's Doctors.

Also featured as a vocalist in Magic of the Musicals at the Royal Albert Hall, Melissa can't wait to join the cast of Peter Pan in Middlesbrough this December.

Terry Ashe as Captain Cecco is jubilant to be back in Middlesbrough for his ‘northern' Christmas.

A stage and screen legend, Terry's roles have included a host of Shakespeare goodies and baddies, EastEnders and the Joe Pasquale Show. Terry is delighted to return to Peter Pan, last played in 2012, and is even playing the same characters.

Richard Chandler, Creative Producer from Extravaganza Productions, is overjoyed to be bringing Panto back where it belongs, to Middlesbrough Theatre: "Middlesbrough is our absolute favourite and we are truly delighted to be back on stage this year.

"The audiences are so welcoming and fully embrace the true spirit of pantomime - we know our Neverland stars are going to have an amazing time!"

Middlesbrough Theatre manager David Lindsey said: "After the bitter blow of the cancelled pantomime last year due to Covid, it is wonderful to welcome the return of the much-loved, festive experience.

"Peter Pan is a fantastic show for all the family to enjoy and Extravaganza Productions will not disappoint with stunning costumes, magical scenery and lots of audience participation opportunities."

Councillor Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Deputy Mayor and Executive member for Culture & Communities, said: "The pantomime is such a festive tradition for so many people, it's brilliant to see it back at Middlesbrough Theatre this year.

"We know our panto fans will love the magic of Neverland and seeing the fantastic stars on stage.

"We hope they all have a great time staying here and get to enjoy some of Middlesbrough's most famous sights, if they have any free time!"
