US media doing their level best to scare everyone to bits just before Chrimbo it seems with the latest winter storm forecast , although I have to admit -70f is really frightening and something I’ve never encountered on my travels. The lowest temperatures I’ve encountered was -36f in Kazakhstan (felt like -45f with the wind chill factor).
8'C in NY today, bit of drizzle. Certainly not as bad as they were making out on the TV news.

It's cold here in Chicago but it was at least ten degrees even colder in Jasper, Canada last week when I was supposedly skiing (well taking 31 school kids skiing) so I think I'm acclimatized.
