Oh dear Boris

Bit confused by this thread, though i didnt see the speech i have seen just Jonathan Ashworth saying Labour support the measures brought in today.

Surely both political parties agreeing on the measures as a country is what we want to see? As opposed to the usual you do it like that, we’d have done this approach of party politics.

I’m not too fussed on someones public speaking. I dont think it says too much in general but if both parties are happy with the measures, whats the issue with whats been announced?
Where the lead opposition party does not in fact oppose - or provide an alternative, you are living in a de facto one-party totalitarianism.

Labour has fundamentally failed during the crisis to properly scrutinise policies brought in. In fact it took a Tory chairman Graham Brady to say hold on, shouldn't these policies be debated in front of the house? Laughable.

I don’t believe the opposition should always oppose. You shouldn’t oppose or offer an alternative for the sake of it. Its alot more refreshing if they just say “yeah we agree” from both sides.

For once I agree with you. Generally speaking it’s called consensus politics and some may we’ll argue that’s where we were in the mid 90s for a period.

Both parties reasonably closely aligned in the centre, just arguing over who can do things better.

To state that because 2 parties agree on something means we live in a totalitarian state is quite something.

Oh dear, that mean i’m wrong if you agree 🤣

Just kidding

Johnson has become a bit toxic now, no matter what he says whether it makes sense or not a lot of people just hear his bluster and think he’s a clown talking nonsense. I think it’s an increasing problem for not just him but the Tory party in general.

Oh my word I agree with Cooper.

Though in this case it is not the overall message that is being criticised, it is the fact that "we're all in this" and "everyone must do their bit", which seemingly applies to everyone except the messenger and allies, who can do whatever they like.

We all must have discipline..... Ironically Cummings wrote the speech and had none a few months ago

He's a dead man walking

As Matron used to tell me at Eton 'A stitch in time saves nine' :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO: As my Mrs said, is he from the 70s? Well yes, Matron was

Gotta keep down with the mofo cool granddads

To be fair it doesn't matter what party lead us at the moment. This country has far too many ignorant people that will not obey the guidance because over the last 20 or 30 years we have developed an ignorant majority.

I just cant fathom that anybody would have watched that tonight and thought 'yes, Boris, we knew we could count on you to lead us out of this crisis'.

I didn't want to watch it, because I knew what it was going to be. A lot of fist pointing, or pumping, whatever he's trying to do, throwing in the 'invisible enemy' phrase like it's some sort of war (it's really not), and acting like we're still following his every word when in reality, the majority of people gave up when his puppet master broke his own rules and got away with it.

Apathy has set in for myself. Nothing is going to change despite all this blundering and constant u-turning. Just please don't cancel the football, I'm not sure I could cope with another several months of that and bloody zoom quizzes.

That's too easy an observation. Do you include yourself, or your loved ones? Work colleagues? Bet you don't
It's everyone else!

No I say what I see when i go into a supermarket with a mask on and I'm in the minority, when I'm in a public bathroom and wash my hands which takes enough time for three or 4 people to come in after me and leave before me cos they didn't bother washing their hands. When I walk down the street and see people in front of me throwing rubbish on the floor as they walk past a refuse bin. When I go to mcds or Kfc and see everyones rubbish left in the parking space I'm about to take because the bin is literally 2 meters away.

Can I visit your world or are you blind. Bet you are!

You ever mentioned this to the people doing what you describe, or just on here?
