Obi-Wan Kenobi - Disney+ (Possible Spoilers)

It's two different quotes.

When
Obi-Wan rescues Luke and R2 from the Sand People
he says "that's not a name I've heard in a long time".

When they're talking later he says "a name I haven't gone by since before you were born".

I suppose, depending on your point of view, he might have been called Obi-Wan by other people but he seems to be calling himself Ben, so he hasn't 'gone by' Obi-Wan..?

But that's part of the fun.

Trying to reconcile the universe with it's own 'world-building' is a side-effect of how popular that universe has become - and the fact it's been managed in so far as canon goes, pretty badly.

You can engage or ignore it entirely.

The abuse towards actors is different and should be stamped on from a great height.

I agree to a point, Star wars is full of plot holes, some are amusing and some are obvious flaws but what is annoying (and it's not just with SW) is people are becoming obsessed with finding them as a stick to beat a program with just because they disliked something. It's getting tedious.

I've watched every episode of everything Star Wars bar Bad Batch, read all the EU books and played every Star wars game, the plot holes are literally everywhere but I don't care because its more Star Wars.

But as you mentioned, it's got to the point where its gone beyond differences in opinion over story or plot holes and now actors are being racially abused which is absolutely abhorrent, Ewen McGregor was spot on in calling them no fans of Star Wars.

Bad Batch is excellent barring one or two episodes. I think they just announced a second series (season?) at the latest Star Wars conference thing.

I think there's a marked difference between people finding plot-holes to complain and people trying to square things up and posit fan-fic type theories as to what stuff might mean.

There was an interesting interview with Sam Neill for the new Jurassic Park where he was asked about the fore-shadowing in the first Jurassic Park where he can't do up his seatbelt in the helicopter. He tries to attach two 'female' connections together and ends up tying them together. The fan-base has taken this to be a reference to all the dinosaurs being female but life "finding a way" regardless.

Sam Neill said it was the first he'd heard of it.

I've just not got around to watching it yet, probably will try this weekend.

I agree, obvious plot holes should be called out, especially ones that make other storylines make no sense for no good reason for example...
the apparent death of the GI if he doesn't reappear.

The thing with Star Wars that people often ignore is "plot holes" are often filled/explained in other media, everything cannot be explained in one show/movie.

Though Disney could definitely try harder to minimise them.

I'm assuming that the incident you highlight will be resolved in this series. It wouldn't be the first time and fits in with known 'lore'.

However, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Rebels isn't necessarily canon - based on Disney's declared position when they took over the rights.

As far as I'm aware, Rebels is still canon. Even so, Maul survived being halved so dead is relative. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ah yes. Very good

Episode 3 Spoiler

I don't understand why DV didn't use the force to blow out the fire protecting obi1 at the end

Love the trump sticker on the back on the truck dig as well in ep 3 freck.

Totally about trump that as you see them all the time in the us

Btw that’s a photo I took when I was over in 2018 in Long Island

Notice the no plate as well

Yep, just watched it. This series gets better with every episode.
I'm less convinced.

The bit with Leia hiding under the cloak stretched credibility somewhat but then the two speeders coming out of nowhere just at the right moment (evading the radar of a base on high alert?) was just bad writing.

The fact that the speeders were able to hover (a function that might have helped on Hoth, 10 years later) and that Reva was able to hold one off and then down it but couldn't do anything about the other one just makes it all a bit creaky.

Visually it's superb but when you consider how much money is behind all this it has far too many bad takes. Not that I'll stop watching or anything

agree its an enjoyable watch but its just ridiculously unbelievable in terms of obi1 been able to fend off huge numbers storm troopers shooting at him with his single light sabre. Visually the enemy base in episode 4 was absolutely fantastic.

At this point the empires control is total and noone expected that a fortress would actually be attacked so everyone was running around not sure what was happening to take notice, also Reva said at the end that she planned for them to escape, see as in EP4, which would also cover why they easily escaped.

The speeders on Hoth were not fully functional due to cold, they only just got them flying, though not too sure why hovering would be an advantage against a squadron of AT-AT's.

Is that with Vader‘s superior force power he could have whipped Ben over the fire and ended it then. But that wouldn’t continue the story. The problem with Star Wars is it breaks its own rules time and time again.

Which must be about the 1000th time across the franchise that a tracker has been attached to a ship. It's just more evidence of lazy writing.

It also relies on Reva knowing that a couple of random speeders are going to turn up which would imply she has a mole in the resistance meaning the tracker is largely irrelevant.

I think the tracker is in Leia's little droid, you see it light up in red at the end.

Of course there are plot holes galore. At the end of the day it is fantasy sci-fi and I'm personally happy to overlook the odd ridiculous moment when it's new Star Wars content with Ewan McGregor in it. I think the acting is decent. Reva is becoming more interesting as the story develops.

All just my opinion.

I'm watching and enjoying for the same reasons.

It just bugs me that for all the money that must go into this there doesn't seem to be any quality control.

That daft chase scene in the first episode could have been fixed by having her fly off holding the droid (it's been done before).

The speeders just turning up could have been fixed with a five second comms call.

It's just little things that add up to a dis-satisfying whole.

The whole point of having a TV show is that there's more room for explanation/exposition.
