The latest Star Wars spin-off Obi-Wan Kenobi was released on Disney+ yesterday. It is set 10 years after the events of Star Wars Revenge of the Sith. The first 2 episodes are available to stream. Has anyone watched them yet? What did you think?

In the middle of the first episode as I type.

It's decent so far, visually great.

I'll be interested to see how much actually happens given they're limited by the constraints of it being between two films with already determined outcomes.

Thought it kicked into life in the second episode (presumably part of the reason for releasing them together).

Wasn't convinced by Leia at first. Seemed to be far too young and reminded me of the lad playing Anakin in The Phantom Menace. However, she really grew into the part.

I think I was largely put off by the ridiculous chase where the adult actors almost ran backwards so as not to catch up and then got outwitted by a branch...

Considering the tech Star Wars has why not just let her be carried a short distance by her droid and then have them short circuit it somehow?

But then the writing (and therefore the decisions characters make) across the Star Wars saga have always left a lot of room for improvement. Not to mention the super-slow gravity-bombers-in-space from The Last Jedi. A bit of internal consistency would elevate it to a reasonably popular franchise, I think

I pretty much gave up in boredom half way through the first one and watched the rest of it plus the first half of the second while doing something else. Admittedly I haven't enjoyed very much of Star Wars in the last 20 years (Mandalorian, Rogue 1 and Last Jedi in parts) so I'm presumably not its target. The whole of it seems to be nostalgia for millennials seeing Ewan McGregor playing Obi-wan. As Sol Bamba once said, I'm too old for this stuff.
Taking the chance to watch Moon Knight though, which is ace.

Yeah, the chase was laughable .. real bad .. there were 2 or 3 occassions where an outstretched arm could have easily grabbed her even if we excuse the blokes running like 90 year olds .. and then the branch ..

I only watched the first one .. very slow .. hoping episode 2 kicks it up a notch ..

Just watched them. It's 'alright' and probably something anyone can really review until we've seen them all.

I just feel Disney is over saturating us with Star Wars and Marvel stuff. That said they ain't half throwing money at it.

Agree about the running. She's also pretty annoying. Then again so is my similar age neice 😂

Nah, that's harsh, she's much better than Jake was or Hayden for that matter

In all honesty it was only a short-lived 'concern'. The info screen subtitle thing popped up "10 years later" and then a six-year old kid bounds into view (turns out she was 8 going on 9 while filming).

I wasn't expecting Leia to be the story so had no pre-conceived notions. It just immediately looked odd and then there was THAT chase.

However once she and Ben teamed up I was pleasantly surpised at how well she did. Hopefully it'll continue.

Does Leia know Ben in Star wars? I can't remember. I mean they definitely didn't seem pally. You'd think they remember everything that happend the other night.

Just looking at continuity... Not that I care as all made up lol

I don't think it's ever made clear that they are total strangers but she doesn't treat him like someone who went out of his way to rescue her 10 years ago.

Maybe Leia is a droid and she had a memory wipe.
