NYC Recommendations

I really enjoyed the baseball at Yankees Stadium.
Walk along the Highline. Being up that bit higher you get to see the city from a different angle
Central Park - an oasis in the middle of craziness
Little Italy
9/11 memorial and museum - interesting and very thought provoking.
USS Intrepid Aircraft carrier

My absolute favorite thing to do in NYC is to walk over the Brooklyn Bridge at sunset then hang a right and go into Brooklyn Heights (right down by the river) to get a breathtaking view of Manhatten after dark.

Follow as many independent/art house/indie NYC pages on Instagram as you can. Spent a couple of months in NYC a couple of years ago and all of the cutting edge stuff happens on a whim/short notice. I managed to get an invite to a talk by Darryl McDaniels simply by my missus being active with the custom art house instagram page. I also saw an exclusive pop up exhibition of the history of The Beastie Boys and a one day only showing of art by Shepard Fairey by accepting free invites on instagram (or my missus did). NYC is by far the greatest city in the world.

Brooklyn is the place to be at the moment. https://www.paninishoppe.com/ Anthony and Son Panini Shoppe. The best food I have ever tasted and I have done plenty of travelling. Little corner shop selling the best sandwiches on planet Earth.
Second greatest after London 😀

Off to New York this summer (second time) for my wife's delayed 40th.

Any recommendations of things to do, places to eat/drink? We've got a few things planned but always keen to hear anything that might have gone under the radar.

Yankees v Red Sox and the New York Derby (soccer) both on while we're there so any tips related to those appreciated.

We're splitting up a couple of weekends in the city with some time upstate - 2 nights in Woodstock and 2 in Beacon as well.
Went last month for the first time and loved it.

if you’re looking for a nice bar with good views and decent nibbles then I would recommend the Skylark in midtown. it’s a bit pricey but not ridiculous.
Fraunces Tavern in the financial district is very good.
We went to the comedy cellar at macdougal street which was excellent and I would highly recommend.
Katz deli also worth checking out.

you can probably tell I came back about 2 stone heavier 😂

Rather than Fraunces Tavern, good as it is, try The Dead Rabbit on Water Street around the corner. For tickets, check Goldstar. Apart from Broadway, off-Broadway, you can get tickets for smaller clubs.

Agree with so much here.

https://www.tenement.org/ Tenement museum and walking tours are fantastic and one of the most insightful things I did in NYC.

Highline.

loads of great breweries but I liked https://shop.threesbrewing.com/

Other Half good too

and single cut. But that’s way out - it’s only beer!

ample Hills creamery for ice cream

rent a car and go to Asbury Park. I’ve got a map of Springsteen places!

Terra Blues Club-great night of live music and drinks. The owner knows his english football and M.F.C amazingly.
We stayed in Williamsburg, old Italian quarter which was a fraction of the price of Manhatten. Great restaurants and lots of cool cafes and breweries. Easy subway route into 'town'.

Cheers for the recommendations everyone. The steak houses look great but my wife is Veggie so probably a no-go unfortunately. Always fancied Peter Luger myself.

We're actually staying in LIC this time (stayed in Williamsburg last time) as prices for almost anywhere else were eye-watering. At the Washington Square Hotel second weekend (fuelling my Dylan obsession, apparently he stayed there with Joan Baez in the 60s).
