Looks a tidy player, great passing range. But it’s mad to think he has 5 months to run on his contract and Rotherham have pocketed £900k with possible ad ons. He wasn’t going to sign a new deal with them. So how have they managed to get that price. 5 months. It’s madness. Must be to do with the fact they feel he might have kept them up. If he had 3 years left would they be asking 4m.

They haven’t pocketed £900k as Newcastle get 40% of the fee. That’s why they wanted as much as they did, if we offered £400k they’d only get £240k, they might as well keep him for that.

Great signing, I didn't actually realise he had the same number of assists as Giles! Question is. Is he gonna have to bide his time or is going straight in to the side?
Midfield was great yesterday!

Good question!
After yesterday’s performance I don’t see how we can change the starting eleven. Maybe replace Howson or Hackney after 60 mins when we are 3-0 up?

I jkusat asked exactly that on another thread. Howson's pass through for our second yesterday was sublime so would be cruel to replace him

Think Howson is two yellows from a suspension, but it resets in three games, so unlikely.

It doesn't reset for another 8 matches in the EFL, it's the 37th game.
It's 32 games in the Premier League because they have fewer games.

2 match ban for Howson if he gets 2 yellows in the next 8 games.

I'm actually surprised to see he's our most booked player.

He looks like a great signing, he'll bring competition to the middle of the park and he looks like a real threat going forward.
