Nothing for England to fear - so far

Can't really gauge the Spanish as yet or the French (although Mbappe is one hell of a player)
Argentina looked ok despite the defeat as did Germany but no great shakes
Let's see what Brazil brings to the party

Spain were impressive the other night. Gavi and Pedri look like terrific young players.

I think Portugal will be strong and still expect Argentina to improve as the tournament progresses. Messi and Ronaldo will both be desperate to do well with it being their last world cups.

Similar to above. Some of the football France and Spain played was fantastic.

I thought Belgium were a final touch away from a few more goals too. Batswawi seemed off the pace.

What game did you watch?

They were lucky to get anything from that game.

So far, there's only Spain and France who have impressed me and who would have me worried.

Even then, France were vulnerable at the back.

Spain were my pre-tournament picks to win, and so far, nothing has changed my opinion on that.

Be interesting to see how Brazil fare later.

France look the best side I've seen so far.

Spain too, particularly as I had criticised their front 3 as toothless, scoring 7 is a hell of an achievement ;)

Going to wait before judging.

The 3 teams that have looked very good so far: France, England and Spain, were all playing against poor footballing sides.

Spain looked brilliant in 2018 and then got knocked out by Russia in the Round of 16.

Germany and Argentina, but especially Argentina, were also playing against weak opposition too though.

Of the 'bigger' nations, Brazil have arguably the toughest opening test.

If Spain win it, then I think the could be favourites for the next few World Cups.

Obviously 4 years is a long time and a lot can change.

But with Gavi & Pedri in the midfield....they'd arguably have the best midfield and that midfield is only going to get better, especially the fact they play/train with each other every day

Yeah, and I'm probably ruling them both out as World Champions on the back of that.

Losing to weak opposition is more telling than beating them.

Except fear, itself...

And penalties.

And goalmouth divots

And Christiano winking

And charging down free kicks in the semi's

And so it goes on... Don't talk to me about life 😂😂😂

Would not be getting carried away about Englands result against Iran, the Iranian players heads where probably up their **** after that prematch gesture in not singing national anthem when they realised what was in store for them when they return home, suspect punishment from the regime will be harsh

All true.
And we played well at the same time.

Tomorrow will be a bigger test for us but I’m looking forward to it all the same. I’d happily take a 1-0 win and going into the Wales game only needing a draw to win the group (assuming they beat Iran).

I guess we'll see how athletic we are, in comparison. And how fast the U.S. are catching up with Europe, technically (not the band)
