Not sure if this has been posted but Simon Clarke...

Cheered, lauded and welcomed into office with the full approval of the voters of Brotton, Guisborough, Hutton, Lockwood, Loftus, Saltburn, Skelton, and Westworth, Coulby Newham, Hemlington, Ladgate, Marton, Marton West, Nunthorpe, Park End, and Stainton and Thornton.

"The public wants what the public gets"
People in his constituentcy must be so proud

Clarke is a 'useful idiot' to the Tories, he'll say whatever is required to re-enforce today's chosen Tory narrative, it's strange that someone cossetted from the real effects of the cost of living crisis by an above inflationary pay rise and the very nice safety net of living expenses is so vocal about how those who are living that reality should manage.

I mean why does someone on a salary of £115,812 require another £14k in donations and another £35k in none-travel and staffing expenses, I mean that £35k equates to an additional gross salary of 47k.

He's defended the indefensible, backed the reprehensible, his politics are apprehensible, his interviews incomprehensible, he's failed to do anything sensible and in doing has made himself dispensable.

You're wasted in engineering.

Easterside too I think, though Saltburn seems more Labour than tory?

Bewildering!

I'm not so sure, seems to be a mixed bag historically, although the boundary changes muddy any useful analysis.

Having grown up there, there are definitely a few who would ascribe to the Tories aspirational drivel, might even be one or two who actually benefit from their policies!

Two things worth considering: it's not a town that particularly welcomes change. Quite a bit of backlash to the influx of visitors etc (despite the cash this brings in), seems short-sighted in my opinion. Secondly, it's surrounded by very rural areas which traditionally vote conservative too.

He’s deliberately confusing two issues.

We all know people who live life on the plastic. Living in a house they can barely afford, wouldn’t be seen dead in anything other than designer clothes, always out on the drink, have expensive holidays, drive around in the latest car PCP car whilst simultaneously claiming they’re skint.

But that’s got nothing to do with nurses demanding a fair wage. £35k might sound like a fortune to some people, but not all nurses are on that. Even if they were, people’s circumstances are difference. £35k to a single nurse in Teesside probably sounds a lot, but if it’s a single mother of two you can say goodbye to most of that salary in childcare. If they live in London it’s almost impossible to survive on that salary.

Handed some cash by Zahawi to come out with something stupid and controversial. Pure distraction to take the heat off the bent B.

I don't even think it's a lot on Teesside anymore. It used to be but it feels like peoples perception of what a lot is never shifts with inflation.

Its no surprise at all from these arzh***s - especially Lee Anderson and Simon Clarke.
They have no idea and dont want an idea.
Literally they dont flippin care.
They dont give a schit.
They dont have morals so its pointless trying to reason with rubbish.
I hope those with their ID Cards and their own bic pens, think before they put the X on the ballot paper next time:mad:

It's been a tourist town since the 19th century.

You might be able to survive off 30k a year if your partner is earning a decent wage or if you budget your money down to the last penny, but wouldn't it be nice if we had a bit left over for a trip to the cinema, a takeaway every now and again or heaven forbid even a holiday?

Surely going to work isn't just about surviving from month to month and what is wrong with wanting a reasonable standard of living, especially if you are a key worker.

Exactly. All in it together apparently.

That does seem to be a lot of Tories thinking though. If you can just about afford to feed, clothe and house yourself then you shouldn't be complaining.

Apart from how incredibly selfish that is, it's also incredibly stupid if you want growth.

But that's unfortunately this particular shower of Tory for you. Cruel and stupid.

Exactly, that is often forgotten about in the "you can survive on a £1 a day or whatever". Why should people work a 40 hour (or more) week and be expected to merely exist - that's not the mark of a civilised society.
