Northumberland

Boat trip from Seahouses to the Farne Islands
Alnwick for the Castle, the Castle Gardens, Barter Books and a walk round the town centre
Alnmouth beach is lovely
Fish and Chips from many great places along the coast.
Lindisfarne
Warkworth Castle
Preston Tower
Amble
Rothbury and Wooler if you go inland as well as Ford and Etal
A bit further away but Chain Bridge Honey Farm near Berwick is good

Had a few nights in Alnwick which was very nice. I don't know whether it was because it was early in the summer or if it is like this the whole time but many shops and other places were closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so it was quite quiet, however on Wednesday evening the pubs and restaurants were all bouncing.
Didn't think much of Amble. Apart from the seafood restaurants around the harbour there seemed very little there.

There's a really good ice cream shop - but agree with you

Love this post! One of my favourite subjects, other than the Boro!

My recommendations for that area are Warkworth (castle & beach), Alnmouth village and beach, Beadnell / Bamburgh, Alnwick, Rothbury and Cragside, Lindesfarne

Craster is magical and a cracking pub with an amazing beer garden overlooking the bay.
The jolly fishermen I believe it’s called.

After a few jars, walk along the beautiful coast to dunstanburgh castle ruins and back to the jolly fishermen for excellent food and more drinks.
A cracking country pub in dunstan village which is a ten minute walk from craster ; the cottage inn with a wonderful beer garden also

We love Northumberland

Morpeth it’s self is a nice little place
Cracking little shopping arcade and plenty of places for food and drink. Lovely walk around the river.

I know people say it’s rough but I don’t find it’s bad at all and certainly not mentioned is Newbiggin by the sea not far away to drive and go to Bertorelli original Italian ice cream and then a walk up the esplanade to the cracking Needles Eye cafe.

Also check out The Running Fox a few of them around and very good food.

I only ever go during the morning or daytime so can’t comment on what it’s like later on.

Just a nice little walk from church point to Needles Eye and back.

I actually hate Seahouses town centre think its a hole but lots of people seem to enjoy it.

We only stopped off in newbiggin one afternoon when driving back from Alnmouth. It seemed very scruffy to me, and the pub we went in had an “interesting” clientele!

Agree about Seahouses too

Longhouton beach, unspoilt and you can walk to Alnmouth or visa versa. Camping tomorrow night up there
What Growler said...also Boulmer beach craster, druridge bay and dunstanburgh castle. If you park in craster it's a 1 mile ish walk along to the castle... fantastic place
