North East and Yorkshire vaccine supply to be halved

The systems in place here have been really fine-tuned and integrated perhaps to a higher degree than elsewhere in the country. Were they not meeting their own set targets because the planning had been exceptional?
Hardly the ethos of right wing is it - getting punished for excellence . except if it’s grim northerners of course !

I`ll ask her next time I speak to her

I do know she was approached by her work to be put forward for the vaccine even after knowing she has had covid

I am curious of to why she has had it though

She doesn`t fit the age bracket....55
She has no underlying health conditions that would put her in the bracket to get the vaccine

The only thing I can think of that would push her in to that top group is that she works in a covid ward at our local hospital, but she isn`t a health worker just a domestic

My sister works in James Cook. not on a ward and has been offered it. It looks like all hospital staff are

One wonders if the north east and Yorkshire were lagging behind in vaccinations compared to our friends on the north wether the same rerouting would be happening?

I'd doubt it Randy.

The Yorkshire Post has been outstanding on this issue. Faced down a load of lying Tory MP's criticising them when they went big on the reduction in distribution to give more to London and were then proved right by a Director from either PHE or the NHS who fessed up on Radio 4 this morning.

The Yorkshire Post is on a roll just now and even though its a Leeds based thing am quite jealous that they actually have a regional paper that fights the corner with proper Journo's rather than be a PR reprint job like the Gazette or a Houchen poodle like the Northern Echo.

Even though a few of the Tories on here are defending this disgraceful diversion of key resources from the north to the south of the country, this will be a game changer in the north east for the next election.

People will forgive a lot of things but they won’t forget this.

Its under the radar of our friends in the national media for obvious reasons but everybody I talk to is absolutely outraged about this.

My ex has been vaccinated, only 52 but works on a covid ward as a private nurse, not NHS. However caught the virus the next day and is now off work after infecting the rest of her family.

I am inclined to think that redistribution is to do with getting the most vulnerable vaccinated rather than deliberately slowing down the north so the southern conservative heartlands don't look bad.

NHS England have confirmed that there won’t be any redistribution of vaccines. Whether this is in response to public outcry or the original news break was a load of bollox it’s not clear, but either way it’s good news for the region, and hopefully we will continue to be as efficient as we have been over the last month or so 👍🏻

I hope it is true Uncle-

It will be because of the public outcry.

It will be worth keeping an eye on them though because what they say and what they do are often completely different...
