Just read this online , new one for me but you’ve probably heard it 😆

When Alen Boksic was at Middlesbrough, his strike partner was Noel Whelan. This did not please Alen Boksic.
One Monday after Whelan had a particularly bad game, Boksic marched into the office at boro and said "How much does Whelan get paid per week"...the secretary told him and Boksic then asked, "how long does he have left on his contract", again the secretary told him and he left.

Boksic walked into the office the next day and handed the secretary a cheque and said "that's Whelan's wages for the rest of his contract, now tell him to **** off".

That never happened!!
 
Match commentary had a chuckle about an interview coming up with Whelan who might have a story about boksic . I googled those names and thats what came up .
No idea if true or not .
 
It’s like the Viv Richards story that gets told on The after dinner circuit.

Glamorgan fast bowler Greg Thomas, after beating Somerset's Viv Richards a few times in an over, said: "Hey Viv, it's round, it's red and it weighs five ounces. Now try playing it!"

Viv responded by smashing the ball out of the ground and saying to Thomas: "You know what it looks like, now you go and find it!"
 
Boksic wouldn't have talked to anyone so couldn't have asked anything!

Southgate mentions a couple of things about Boksic in his book. You get the impression Boksic never really talked to anyone or had any relationship with anyone either.
 
Boksic may have been a moody so and so but I doubt very much he would have talked about a fellow pro in those terms. Like said above, sounds like a Dean Saunders quip at one of those dinners in front of an audience of lager sodden wannabes.

Think I remember, it was a header wasn't it? I think it was his comeback after another 'injury'.

Edit: Just watched the highlights on YouTube, on the bench because he had a cold apparently!

He threw a foot at the ball and it hit of the edge of his boot and it span off and into the net. I remember Venables was furious after the match.
