Hi Sportsfans welcome to my Notebook post, or should I say Filofax ? My fans will be delighted to hear I battled through the Park End snow and got to the Riverside just in time to take my seat in the Directors Box.

Stoke were the best side we have seen at the Riverside for quite some time and disrupted our rhythm with a high press. The pitch in the North East quadrant was over watered and this didn't help our passing. It was an entertaining end to end game and both sides tried to win it. Stoke shaded it, but a draw was just about a fair result.

On loan Bournemouth midfielder No.22 Ben Pearson (the beard) was excellent in the holding role, his passing was faultless although he did get mugged in possession for Chuba's goal.

No.28 Josh Laurent looked a good player, his wonderful pass set up the equaliser and he really should have had a pelanty following Ramsey's clumsy challenge in the box.

The same goes for No. 17 Ki -Jana Hoever who scored his third goal in 2 games from right back, he was a constant threat down that side and got the better of Giles. Like Giles the 21 year old Dutchman is currently on loan from Wolves...

No 10 Tyrese Campbell threatened to run riot down the left in the first 10 minutes but Smith, who I thought had a great game, quickly got to grips with him and his influence faded.

Nobby's choice this week was Jojo Shelvey lookalike No.18 Will Smallbone, on loan from Southampton. Most of the Potter's attacks came through him and he was constantly on the front foot pressing hard. All action, and hard running he stood out for me, Hackney resorted to leaving one on him after the ball had gone in the second half which the ref seemed to miss. It left Smallbone needing treatment and looked a yellow card. Drilled shot was well saved by Steffen in the second half. Smalltown got 3 assists in Stoke's last away game against Sunderland, he's in the Filofax guys 👍

Jonjo Shelley’s brother from another mother?

I also thought the pitch looked over watered, but wasnt sure if it was deliberate or just due to the heavy rainfall.

Not very often you see rooster tails from the ball along the floor, and at times it seemed to hamper our ability to play quick balls to feet.

We didn’t have THAT MUCH rain did we? It looked waterlogged.

Completely agree, it was just in that North East quarter the rest of the pitch seemed ok
