Nobby's Notebook - Birmingham City πŸ“–βœοΈπŸ¦

Hi Sportsfans and welcome once again to my Notebook post πŸ“–βœοΈ. A strange week which saw 'the best manager in the league' sacked and adopted Teessider Leo Percovich 🦁 put in charge on a temporary basis. However, It did seem as though Craig Liddle was pulling the strings from the sidelines from my padded seat in the directors box πŸ‘

Birmingham looked pretty good with the dangerous Deeney and Hogan upfront. They had some decent players on view and should be at least mid table this season.

The Blues looked strong at the back and No.28 Dion Sanderson (on loan from Wolves) and No. 5 Auston Trusty (on loan from Arsenal) worked really hard to keep our forwards in check. Hannibal also caught the eye with his energetic all action style and haircut.πŸ’ˆ

Nobbys Choice No. 18 Tahith Chong was easily the Blues most influential player and caught my eye. Able to find space in a congested midfield he was always on the front foot and dangerous on the half turn. He can carry the ball forward at pace and has great technical ability. Testing Steffen with a couple of long range efforts he was without doubt the main danger for Birmingham.

Age 22, Chong joined the Man United academy age 16 after progressing through the Feyenoord academy system. After featuring for United 5 times they sent him on loan to Werder Bremen and Club Brugge before a loan to Birmingham last season. Signed permanently in September 22 and has represented the Dutch national side at all levels upto U21

Looks another quality player who will end up playing in the Premier League...He's in the Notebook πŸ“–βœοΈπŸ‘

You certainly know your stuff Nobby. Perhaps you should be putting in for the Boro manager's job!?
Hey thanks Cuth, I won't be applying for the job this time. I will however furnish the new manager with my list of players and hope to get a better response than from the last incumbent....

i.e. My emails not be completely ignored 😑

How Kipre didn’t win Cardiff’s nomination is incredible nobby! He was outstanding.

Thought we might have been in for Auston Trusty from Colorado instead of Arsenal.. he seems wasted there. Maybe we can bring in Kai Wagner from Philadelphia Union this December on a free.. β€˜Googly Eyes’

Thought he was a bit erratic in that game tbh.

I think some players might stand out because of distinctive hairstyles...it's just natural that you can identify and hence notice them more than others who go under the radar...
Kipre fits that assessment....

Fortunately as an experienced scout I can look beyond the blond streaks and dreadlocks πŸ‘

He didn’t give us anything!

Did everyone see Riley McGree having such a long conversation with a Birmingham sub that he didn't hear them calling him over to come on?
The Birmingham sub (his colleague last season) was asking how he ended up at Boro and he said @Nobby_Barnes had recommended him to them
My greatest moment when we signed McGree, someone from within the club is taking a keen interest in the famous πŸ“–βœοΈπŸ‘ See also Jacob Greaves πŸ‘
