No Pubs in Reading

Or rather no designated Boro pubs say MSS
MSS Pubs

There is no designated away pub near the train station, in Reading town centre, or by the Madejski Stadium. As such we would suggest heading straight to the stadium.

Reading operate a small Fan Zone outside the East Stand, which can be used by both sets of supporters and sells a variety of alcoholic drinks and refreshments.

There's a decent pub, the Hop Leaf, at the top of Basingstoke Rd on Southampton Street. It was my local for a while, a real ale pub with s decent selection of beers and lagers at the time. It also had a bar billiards table 👍

It's not far from there in a cab.

It was knuckle dragger free too, as was the bar at the station, Three Guineas I think it's called.

go to Sweeney & Todds - have a pie and a drink - very very good pie selection - 10 Castle St RG1 7RD

Brewdog Bar is next door No11, The Castle Tap is just a little further along at No 120 Castle St ..

The Sun Inn is at No 16.

Bring home the points !

Never had issues getting in pubs in Reading centre and never had any problems when on said pubs.
That said 12:30 KO and being on Sky put me off tomorrow. Watch it in pub the go to Gathering Sounds.
Horrible going on train to Reading.

Is this normal for Reading? Have they done that for other teams? Or has the behaviour of some of our fans so far this season brought some unwanted attention?

I just went to the fanzone last time. It was alright and had big screens with footy on with both sets of fans eating and drinking together.

Then again as a 1230 kick off it probably doesn't overly matter.

Remember going there a few years back and the train got massively delayed near Birmingham. As we got closer to Reading, the game had started and we listened on the radio as Boro took the lead, mad rush to dive in a taxi, got outside the ground to hear us score a 2nd, got in to watch the rest of the match and we went from 2 up to losing 3-2. Not a fun away day 😂
