What ???and from Seaham
Yep, there's no way we get that pen today for the same "offence". No one sees it and the ref has a 50/50 to make, bottled it and went with the home crowd.Boro playing against 11 players plus the ref and the lino who gave the pen, presumably wanting to make a name for himself and from Seaham.

That was my initial thought so I looked for the ruling but unfortunately the referee direction is:-Thirdly, if it is a pen then it isn’t a red. New double jeopardy rule - it was a genuine attempt for the ball. Pen and no red card.
But that goes back to the original point. They were both jostling in an attempt to get the ball. The truth is that there was no foul but it absolutely was an attempt to play the ball. Both battling to get to the ball. That was my initial thought so I looked for the ruling but unfortunately the referee direction is:-
“Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off."”
Absolutely agree that it wasn’t a penalty but once the referee decided it was a penalty then the red card had to be given. But that goes back to the original point. No but that’s not true. All you could see is a genuine attempt for the ball ergo no red.Absolutely agree that it wasn’t a penalty but once the referee decided it was a penalty then the red card had to be given.
Don’t want to fall out but how was it a genuine attempt to play the ball.Thirdly, if it is a pen then it isn’t a red. New double jeopardy rule - it was a genuine attempt for the ball. Pen and no red card.
