NIGHT SKY

Jupiter is at opposition and at it's closest in 59 years. If you use quality binoculars and steady against something you might see the bands in the clouds. I'm gonna try photographing with my telescope tomorrow.

Saturn will be about 25 degrees west of Jupiter, and Mars 30 degrees to the east of it. Neptune and Urunas are also visible but you need a telescope for them.

Trust you have a telescope Marty, I bet the shop you bought it from saw you coming a mile off 🤣

Down here in NZ we have had some fantastic views of Jupiter overnight. Our skies are crystal clear and a sight to behold. We regularly see Musks chain of or orbiting satellites, shooting stars and the planets.

Had a telescope as a kid , I fancy getting one again but I need to Move into a house where there’s no neighbours in line of sight 👀👀

On Saturday - there was a star directly above the moon - quite bright.
Was that one of the planets?

My old man bought me a second-hand telescope when I was a kid and taught me all about the night sky by setting the telescope up outdoors one night. I've never forgotten one night when he pointed at a bright star and asked me what it was. I replied "That's easy Dad - it's the North star." He then said, "Now look at it through this" (he had the telescope pointing at it). I looked and saw a planet in half-crescent - it was Venus. So many people see Venus - the brightest 'star' in the night sky - without knowing it's not a star at all.
