He's dull as dishwater these days but some coup getting him on at the Globe. I might even be tempted to go.

Sadly I'm not a young man anymore. I'm old enough to have seen The Birthday Party and The Bad Seeds in all their glory.Oh and 'dull as dishwater'?
Wash your mouth out young man!

For me Nick hasn't released a good album in years. It all started going down hill when Mick Harvey left and Warren Ellis had more input.
Not enough people are willing to say something's dross just because it's Nick Cave. If he put out an album of himself reading the news some people would say it's a masterpiece.
Only my opinion of course. Some people say Ghosteens a classic, to me it's a load of self indulgent w**k.
I still love Nick Cave, just can't listen to his newer music. I'll go to The Globe to see him but after seeing him so many times (last time at The Sage in 2019) I don't think I would make the effort to go back to The Sage this time around.
Gene he really isn’t, beautifully crafted music and Warren Ellis is a genius. Hopefully be able to get tickets for Ipswich. Great to see an artist like him playing “proper venues”.He's dull as dishwater these days but some coup getting him on at the Globe. I might even be tempted to go.

Ha - all down to opinions and there isn't a right or wrong.Gene he really isn’t, beautifully crafted music and Warren Ellis is a genius. Hopefully be able to get tickets for Ipswich. Great to see an artist like him playing “proper venues”.
I've read it and I really enjoyed it. I got slaughtered on the old board and accused of being a troll when I dared to say that even though I love The Birthday Party and the early Bad Seeds albums he pretty much lost me around the time that he decided to go all elderly statesman balladeer. Musical taste is a very personal thing and his later stuff just doesn't really do anything for me.Also a fairly recent convert (last 10-12 years or so) - I dig pretty much everything he's ever done. Lyrically he's up there with the best and willing to challenge convention musically as well.
Grinderman probably his most interesting (and best?) period for me. Loved both albums and caught them at the Coronet in London which is probably the best gig I've ever seen.
Has anybody read his books? "and the ass saw the angel" is also a personal fave of mine.
I agree entirely, he's a genius, but he's lost his way and to me that is down to Warren Ellis' influence. Since Mick Harvey left Nick's output has steadily gone down hill.I've read it and I really enjoyed it.
