Neymar! One of the greats……no?

Overhyped and overrated, he always has been. He doesn’t come into the conversation when talking about the greatest ever players and as said above he could lace Phil stamps boots.
Just to confirm, Stampy made one of the passes in THAT Juno goal at Old Trafford. And on that subject, TLF won a World Cup and also transformed the entire performance and expectations of a small-ish provincial club in the North of England. And for that, he is and will remain my hero.

On tonight's showing, Brazil are playing a lot like you would expect from them since Neymar has been substituted. This would not be the same if Pele, Ronaldo or Ronaldinho had left the pitch back in their day.

Disagree about Pele. Undoubtedly brilliant but Brazil had strength in depth in the Pele years. Ronaldo I agree as it was a "weaker" Brazilian era. Ronaldinho maybe.

He's good. He's very, very good. But to me he's always been this awesome kid threatening to break through into legendary status, but it hasn't quite played out the way I expected and he's in his 30s now. (I know, I know, I have some weird opinions)

Obviously his career has been a huge success and he's a huge talent, but he hasn't got to where I thought he'd get to 10 years ago.

That said if he showed up knocking at the door of The Riverside saying "Gizza job mister", I would hope we'd at least let him in for a chat.

The point I was making was that Brazil improved as a team tonight when Neymar was substituted. Back in the day, Brazil would have been weakened if Pele had been substituted because he was brilliant but a much better team player than Neymar. Too much revolves around Neymar in my opinion in the current set up.

He’s a great but not one of the greatest of all time. His career has stagnated since the move to PSG. Should get himself to the premier league.

Don’t forget his match at the riverside was one of his if not his first game on English soil.

Neymar was brought to Gordon Strachans attention / reccomended, when age 18 in May 2010 when at Santos, and had a valuation of £1m + at the time .
Strachan then signed Will O'flood free ,Chris Killen free , Chris Boyd free , then Scott McDonald in Feb 2010 for £4.3m .
Maybe he enquired , who knows but him and those close .
3 year later he joined Barca for £88m euros .
True .

He's getting an MRI scan on his ankle and left the pitch in tears tonight, could be his world cup over?

He’s an incredible talent but has never developed the mental game to be considered a top 3 player in the world. He’s like the kid on the school team who tried to dribble his way into the goal every time he got the ball. He could have done with a Roy Keane or a Bryan Robson to bring him down a peg when he was younger. It sorted Ronaldo out.

Olivier Giroud was around that time too.. €2m I think we pushed the boat out for Scott McDonald instead.

I think he’s brilliant and will be remembered as Brazil’s main man for this generation, but more of a very good player than an all-time great one. He’s certainly not in the conversation with the legends like Maradona, Pele, Gullit, Messi & Ronaldo etc.

More of a Rivaldo than a Ronaldo Nazaria.

I’m also not sure he’d get on the bench for all time Brazil team.
