See.. that’s all you have to do.

Bit of evidence based speculation.. the clock is ticking and we still haven’t signed anyone. It’s very likely that we will sign someone sooner.. or later.

Whispers on the grapevine that several deals are quite advanced.. ITK or evidence based speculation?

We have lost/sold Smith, Dijksteel, Clarke, Howson, Latte Lath.. last season we had Travers, Giles, Doak, Illing Junior, Iheanacho all on loan.. apparently none to return. Hackney and RVDB have been lined with moves away.. even speculation regarding Azaz, Ayling, Glover & Barlaser

Players left on loan last season include Engel, Silvera, Gilbert & Hamilton

Travers
Smith/Ayling
Dijksteel
RVDB
Clarke
Giles/Engel
Howson
Barlaser
Hackney
Doak/Silvera
Gilbert/Iheanaccho
Azaz
Illing Junior/Hamilton
Latte Lath
Coburn

You can’t really fall off picking a position or available player that may suit. £20m to bring in 15 players suddenly sound a little light.. 10 permanent and 5 loans sounds a wee but more manageable.. but hey.. we brought in Morgan Rogers for around £1m!

We probably won’t sell ALL of those listed.. and we probably have a few academy lads ready to step up. The constant line we’ve heard is we’re looking to bring in RB, CB, MF, RW & ST (right sided attacker)

Dijksteel, Clarke, Howson, Coburn & Latte Lath seem to stack up with those.

Oh.. AND we’ve been looking at free transfers.. bit of an obvious one if we’ve potentially got a turnover as great as that.

Fry, Forss, Lenihan & Finch also going into their final year of their contacts.

The first two moves have been to bolster our academy.. a fair few have been released and that production line might need a bit of help. Private flights from Croatia, Switzerland, France & Germany might not all be about the first teamers (if at all to do with Boro signings)

Maybe we should be starting with who we think will stay? And build from that.. and we may as well build using Edwards favoured set up if the turnover is going to be so great.. and it just so happen to be cheaper than putting together a squad under Carrick’s favoured system of play..
Maybe selling Hackney and RVDB is not such a bad idea after all.. £1m spend limit could be.. limiting. It sure changes what players we can afford to be looking at. (maybe that’s the hold up) it’s looking like five loans might be the order of the day to stretch the pennies. Strengthening the academy certainly won’t do us any harm.

First team candidates from further afield will help spread the wealth.. more bang for our buck..

Flights

Olbia, Sardinia - Olbia Calcio 1905
Giulio Marroni 19yo defensive midfielder, ex Crystal Palace U21 (which just so happens to be where we picked our head scout up from)
Eggenfelden, Bavaria - SSV Eggenfelden
Home to 26yo right back Thomas von Sommoggy! Laurenz Bockhardt 19yo central defender.. might have been given a heads up from Aaron Danks?
Bordeaux-Merignac - Bordeaux
Amadou Diallo 22yo left winger, ex Newcastle U21 player. might be something in it with Graham Carrick’s recent involvement. Also they have Travis Mutyaba 19yo right winger?
Erfurt, Thuringia - FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt
Luca Florian 19yo centre back, left back, defensive midfield..
Split, Croatia - HNK Hajduk Split
Niko Sigur 21yo defensive midfielder, can play right back and central defence

Alfie Doughty Not named in a recent Luton friendly.. it’s set tongues wagging.

ITK.. they’re having a laugh!

I expect we’ll get them in batches (like the Indian bowlers taking England wickets). Two or three next week, another two after we’ve sold Hackney & RVB and two or three loans towards towards deadline day. Expect plenty of meltdowns, but the permanently injured group should be back for pre season and like ‘new signings’…..

Line up v Mansfield

Glover

Lenihan
Fry
Borges

Ayling or new signing
McCabe or new signing
Morris
Bangura

Whittaker
McGree or new signing

Conway

Looking at recent speculation Louie Barry seems back in the frame, Doughty heavily linked and a couple of palace players as part of the Hackney/RVB deal!

I always read Newy's post as though it's Sir Digby Chicken Caesar speaking them whilst on the run.....

The problem we have is that we don't really know what our budget is until we know the fate of Rav, Hackney, and Azaz. If we currently have about a 20m budget for fees and any wage uplift, for about 10 permanent signings, budget 2m/player. Sell those three and we have a 75m budget for purchase fees and wage uplift, for 13 permanent signings, budget 5.8m/player.

How do we know who we should be buying until that situation is resolved? If we go for the 2m budget player today, we may end up too low quality if those three players move on. Lots of cash in the bank but no squad space to go and buy high quality replacements.

I hope we get them sort asap, one way or another. I'd give the players agents 10 days to resolve it, or they're staying.
