Next Signing?

I think we need another CB. I thought Halls looking better and remember he hadn't played since March (did well today and a threat from setplays)

That would also free up Mcnair to go into CM. He's by far the most offensive option as always looking forward and happy to drive forward into space.

I would love a creative 'maverick' Tomlin type. Just someone who can produce a bit of magic out of nothing. I would still love Roberts in on loan. Still time👍 (although NW says it's not happing... It could be a bluff)

We know he's keen on a young academy forward as a loan. Hopefully someone jet healed.

We still have plenty of time. The domestic loan window is open for a week after the window shuts. Also prem squads not finalised yet. So more players will become free.

I'm not sure the formation 'allows' us a maverick. Warnock said about Roberts that we would need two defensive full backs to get him in.

Still useful to have one on the bench if a games tight. Hopefully Browne can save us a few quid👍

I wasn’t one of the lucky ones who went today.
However we are told McNair was man of the match.
A little disturbing given we are also told that we had the better of the game.
If a defender ( stopgap )is getting the man of the match what were the others doing ?.

Left sided central defender.

Play Dijksteel as the sweeper, Coulson left wing back. Line up as follows in 352

Betinellii

Hall
Dijksteel
ANO

Spence
Coulson

Howson
Tavernier
Morsy

Assombalonga
Akpom

It’s got to be a creative midfielder, someone to link midfield and attack in the tav position as he has been well off the boil this season after a great end to the last.

That’s followed closely by a decent left wing back, Johnson may be able to put a good ball in but he lost his man at a set piece again today who went on to score. He gave away a good few goals at the end of last season too by losing his manor giving away daft free kicks in dangerous areas.

a defender to replace Sam Stubbs:
CD - Nat Philips - Liverpool

a midfielder to take place of Ben Liddle?
MF - Ryan Yates - Forest

If Lewis Wing isn’t up to it then an attacking type midfielder to replace him:
MF - Alex Mowett - Barnsley

one more striker maybe?
ST - Kenneth Zohore - West Brom

Woodrow, Roberts or Murphy please.

Definitely think we need more creativity and the link between midfield and attack is more needed than a out and out striker.

I don’t get the talk of not being able to accommodate Roberts as he can play in Tavs position and have 2 midfielders behind him.

Ball carrying pacy midfielder
Left Back
Pacy striker (fox in the box type)
Centre Back

as a minimum

If we can on top, a pacy wide player

Some good choices there , I would be happy with most of them , but we won't get that many in . Phillips would be my choice at centre half .
Woodrow , Roberts and Murphy would be good .
Martinelli would be awesome .

Playing McNair and Howson as defenders is probably not their best positions certainly for McNair - so my priority is still a defender, then a creative type player or winger. We have conceded from 2 corners and looked weak from our own corners. A big central defender good in the air would be useful.

McNair looks prem quality in defence, champo quality in midfield.

If we are sticking with the same formation I would have to say that Mcnair, in my opinion has never looked better. Why move him?
Next signing for me would be a CF, if we can choose the order of signings. Zohore if we could afford him and Warnock wants him. At the minute though I have utmost confidence in warnocks squad buildng abilities. We just need to back him, if at all possible.

I would imagine with wage demands seemingly dropping it will be a case of choosing the right time to “twist” as opposed to waiting too long and being left with the dreg.
